Dying Light 2: Reloaded Edition

Dying Light 2: Reloaded Edition

Statistiche:
PC Noise when I play at max quality
as the title says, when I play at max quality my pc makes like a whirring fan noise that's kinda loud, this happens with other games as well, don't get me wrong there's no lag but Im wondering is this noise hinting that its bad for the pc and that it cant handle it or is it normal for the pc to make such noises?

I play at max quality and high ray tracing, if the fan is just spinning really fast and dont hear any hitting noises, its all good :lunar2019piginablanket:
Mine was doing the same, sounded like a hovercraft...I changed my graphics card drivers and now the fan levels are minimal.
DL2 with raytracing enabled is one of the most taxing things you can run on a GPU today. See 250 watts and up on my 3060 ti while running RT DL2. Lot of work - lot of watt - lot of heat to get rid off. If airflow in your PC case is not that good the "problem" intensifies.

So the PC making more noise then normal is perfectly normal while running DL2 with raytracing.

The GPU will lower clock rates if it reaches problematic temperature regions. If that is not enough to protect the hardware the computer will power down or crash with a bluescreen (had that happen with my old RX580 a few years ago).

yes this game is the most demanding I have ever played. gpu load pinned at 100% at all times. my 3090 with 500W bios uses an average of 450W when playing this, most other games use around 300-350w. and that 450w is with an undervolt that only uses .950w at load. a stock 3080/3090 would be hitting the power limit on these gpus for sure.
My PC is also noisy when I run the game on maximum settings (without ray-tracing) with the fan working hard. Dying Light 2 is a pretty demanding game thus I'm sure that's normal.
Sounds like it's coil whine coming from your GPU. It's harmless, but some people RMA their cards for one that won't do that. If it's the only game it happens on, it should be alright. (if thats what this is.)

it only happens during games, to be specific it only happens in areas in certain games that require too much power to process I suppose.

If it's pitched and change to a higher or lower note depending on the scene in-game then that's coil whine. Like it has been mentioned, it's harmless and it can come from both the graphics processing unit and the power supply. You can mitigate it by limiting the framerate. Sometimes it can mitigate itself if this is on a new PC or new components. If this bothers you then you can try a return merchandise authorization (RMA) and see if you can get a new one if possible. But make sure that it's 1) actual coil whine and not something else, and 2) locate the component where the noise comes from.

Can anyone with a newer Radeon test something for me: Put your game into DX12 and enable Asynchronous Compute. Does it make coil whine then? Toggle AsyncCompute off and does it go away?
Tested with Radeon 6950 and Adrenalin 23.2.2.
