Why does DL1 feel better then DL2?
LOVED the first one, but then i played this one and damn it's hella diffrent.
1.Clunky combat
2.u have to learn simple moves that most people can pull off(excluding the unrealistic ones like ground slam and spiderman wallclimbing)
3.even worse weapon system, in the first game u could install a file to have unlimited repairs like dead island, but now u can only repair ur favorite weapons with mods(why no repair shop or somethin) so that means Weapons have no value
4.♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zombies with explosive attacks, just like the first game but waaaay worse every time a goon slams it like a brick of c4 went off
5.volatiles one shot u with 240hp for some reason, yep they are now impossible to kill
6.no guns, "but they have taken all the guns" it doesn't mean the gov disarmed it's country that weapons can't come from somewhere else or can't be crafted, they did guns dirty in the first one so i expected that this one would compensate. techland only good at melee
7.as of writing this review iv died 121 times of falling to death in my few hours of playtime, why u ask, cause aiden is THE slowest astmatic iv even seen and boy is he sometimes just to lazy to grab stuff.
8.Not scary nighttime, it is so easy to just cheese it and keep kicking the infected off the roofs when they try to jump towards ur platform, volatiles where scary.
9.no sprinting? for some reason
10.no throwing weapons? for some reason
11.alcohol is super rare for some reason, i can brew booze in a week with f*ing weeds if i wanted to!!
12.the clothing system is cool and all,but im kinda tired of running around in shorts PK heavy armor would be cool at cost of mobility u get defenses against attacks

Pros:
1.a new moves i guess
2.the ability to block
3.Lawan got a fatter ass than Jade
4.Stealth is good tough the takedown are quite slow and weird, why would u first try to choke and then snap their neck, just snap their neck.
5.u can kill most people that are outside

I mean it's not bad but it could have been so much more 6/10
6.good music but frist one was better
4.Verticality of the city and it's beautifull shame it runs so poorly

###EDIT###
With the help of mods i now enjoy DL2.
1.indestructable weapons
2.return of volatiles on the street and making them a little weaker
3.4X ALL zombies
4.more patrols
5.the "i am legend mod"
6.better economy(no more 30$ for a artifact weapon)
7.sprint restored
8.less astmatic sprint
9.more sound consecuences(more/special zombies will come if u make sounds)

I think they are both awesome, no doubt they have a different feel and atmosphere but they are both great in their own right.

DL1 has had 7+ years of improvment and development post launch. and in that time its been made smoother, more bug free, has more content, new animations, better balancing, etc.

give DL2 time. DL1 was not nearly as clean as it is now only 2 months after launch. its an unfair comparison to compare DL2 now to DL1 now

DL2 won't beat DL1 though even with additional time added on top. They programmed the game to be the way it is, they aren't going to touch code after release to change core of the game.

The best they can do going forward, is make an expansion like the following that improves the plot. I think the only thing DL1 looses to DL2 is the plot and voice acting on some actors, that is about it. Gameplay can be an improvement but it is glitchy/buggy like when you try to kick a slow zombie rushing you to grab and your kick does not register because there is a dead zombie under you, you have to aim higher like aiming for the head to register the kick and it doesn't work all the time.

I'm not enjoying the city area, the first 2 areas of the game were nice, but the big city is... not so good. I do like the surrounding areas though. Hopefully they will make a large open area map as an expansion, similar to the initial area with the woods. That would be nice.

Also must have more focus on the zombies, not survivors. Kinda hate playing a zombie game and most of the focus is on the survivors, zombies feel like they are just there as side characters.

DL1 For lyfe, DL2 Feels very slow and sluggish, also fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GPU device wrong start on launch, and the dumb memory leakage. and i might stay in the game for more than 1 hour or be bothered to even open the applicaton.

they have updated and changed the code multiple times so far. they have even updated and changed cutscenes, mechanics, blueprints, enemy balancing, loot, and have gone as far as to add in more secret sidequests. plenty has been done. and is still being done.

In terms of zombies, story, design (maps, locations...etc) and "zombie survival atmosphere" Dying Light 1 and Dead Island 2011 remain WAYS BETTER than Dying Light 2. In DL2 zombies are offscreen, story badly written and of poor quality, design a big nonsense and not realistic -> extremely more plants and trees on rooftops than on streets. After 20 years green life is supposed to cover streets almost completely. Climb trees on buildings and some skyscrapers...etc. Atmosphere of DL2 is a mix of a parkour running in a colorful amusment park a la medival age with few zombies in the background. That is why I give DL2 a 2/10 rating

its like the just made DL2 as a mod for the game Green Hell because they plan to try and make something good in VR out of it...

it looks the same, plays the same etc...

why you would ever do that after making such a great game like DL1 and then go and make something in the same series on par with an indie game blows my mind
no idea comparing both games in vanilla state i put way more time into dl2 and in the first gae. dl1 was a good game but it really started to shine with the legendary skilltree, nightmare and the following
Pandora's Actor Apr 7, 2022 @ 2:09am
because it focuses on the zombies and the virus itself. this mainly focusses on the humans. Which is just bad in my opinion. im playing a zombie game to see zombies. to have zombies as my enemies. not for them to exist in the background but the majority it being about humans.

They had an interesting begin story with how the virus spread again and how the cure is in the pendant of this woman that turned and it would have been great if it was our priority to find that and try to find a cure again but sadly no. its just about a generic gang war between survivers and more strict survivers.

i mean i do love the open world part before entering the city the most. the mountains the forest the lakes that all would have been such an interesting take. with small settlements and maybe the big city being accessible directly as this standing pillar connected to the forrests and mountain
Think about Battlefield 2 and 3 same difference. Battlefield 2 was the last great Battlefield ever made. Why is battlefield 2 a great game? It has a modding community, and coop ai stomp, their is no forced interactions with the hacker collectives that roam the earth now.
Battlefield 1942 is still living, desert combat rages on.

While Battlefield 3 was graphical and still fun to play it couldn't hold a candle to the games that came before it.

So the lesson is, in gaming when the number on the box goes up their is an 80 percent chance the game will be worst then the last.

Example:
Just cause 2 Superior Just Cause 3 Not terrible Just Cause 4 a pos on a stick.

Empire Earth 1 Mythic Level RTS<< Empire Earth 2 sucks but not terrible Empire Earth 3 WTF were you thinking? Game and company have been dead and rotting for years.

How many games can you list that got worst everytime the number increased?

DL1 is a finished product. DL2 needs more time and some more years to really come into its own. If i remember correctly DL1 had a lot of problems at launch didn't it? in 5 years people will be saying DL2 is a masterpiece. Then we will be playing DL3 saying the same things about that game as we are about this one right now xD
