Massive fps drops with RT on
I have a pretty powerful gaming PC that is above the posted specs for RT, yet in areas near safehouses like the Bazaar and VNC tower I get abysmal fps. Is it just me? I have the latest NVIDIA drivers and I only get performance issues when I have RT enabled.

OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (16 CPUs), ~3.8GHz
Memory: 32GB RAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
VRAM: 8GB

Is there a fix for this or am I doomed to play without Raytracing? Not the end of the world but I would like to play with the enhanced visuals.

I tested it with my vintage 2060 super and i loose around 10 fps with DX12U raytracing enabled (compared to DX11). Unfortunately that drops me from the acceptabe 40s into the mid-30s and so I have to disable it again.

I had some heavy stuttering after my savegame loaded, but that disappeared after a few seconds and the framerates became stable.

I am on driver 497.29.
For me it's the same, I've got a 3060ti und ryzen 5600x but this only happens to me if i play longer than 1 hour for some reason. before that everything is smooth.
I play with maxed out settings.
My experience with DXR in most games is that if will basically cut your fps in half without DLSS (RTX3070 here).

With all ray-traced effects on, my FPS usually goes down to 45fps at 1080p. DLSS Quality bumps it back up to 70-75.
I think a 3060Ti might be a smidgen below the 'all RTX settings' threshold. I have a 3090 which, with ALL effects on and no DLSS, tanks to 45fps (21:9 widescreen). But these are some things to try:

DLSS on (weakens the visuals a little but you can counter this by increasing sharpness in the menu video settings). DLSS Quality is the best setting and, if you can hit 60fps with this, you're good - else you might need to increase to the DLSS to Performance.

ASync Compute ON - this is imperative. You need to be playing DX12 for this, not DX11. This doubles my fps and has the biggest impact of all the available settings with no impact on quality (it basically just lets your GPU perform multiple instructions at a time instead of queuing them up).

Finally, watch your system temperatures because RTX heats things up a fair bit. If your performance begins to tank after a period of play, it could be heat throttling back performance (check CPU, GPU and SSD/NVMe temps).

i have a 3060 ti too but remember this card isn't top tier, the 3070 isn't even the high end. 3060 ti is only modern midrange gpu.

and this is a brand new game that's open world too. i find with ray tracing on with this game after awhile the game just crashes for some reason.
You need turn on DLSS quality, I play with ray tracing ultra over 60fps without stutter
Played around with the presets. Yes, RT on maxmium settings halfs your FPS. :(

I also noted the game is much more unstable and laggy on DX12(U). Played on DX11 for the first 70 hours and had no problems, crashes or even freezes. One day on DX12 and I had already two freezes. I will stay with DX11.

With RTX 2070super I can not play with DLSS (ingame running but without screen)... if i start DX12 game crash :D
Had fps glitches went back to Nvidia 511.65 and made sure running fullscreen not windows borderless and no fps lag all night 4 player co op
