Crash at startup
CoreSync.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x0000000000FCDF55 referenced memory at 0x000000002D30303C. The memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program.

I've been trying to play now for over an hour. I frequently get this error message, sometimes it loads to the initial menu, sometimes I can even hit "Continue", but I've never been able to actually load into the game. I've been playing for over 34 hours on my save file and this is the first time I've ran into this. I haven't played in a couple of days, but I don't see any new major patches.

I've already verified the files, I don't know what's causing this. I'm very frustrated.

CoreSync.exe is an adobe process... I would open a admin level cmd prompt, then run the following command ; "sfc /scannow"
Otherwise, you may need to run a memory check.

Hey, thanks for this, running them now while also reinstalling DL2 (kicked that off before seeing your post). I'll let you know how it goes.

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Glanced through the log, there were a couple of errors that were auto-repaired. I'll let you know if all's green after the game reinstalls. Given that there were no updates between when the game was working and when it wasn't, I'm fully willing to own that the issue exists outside of DL2, and it wasn't the reinstall that fixed it.

Issue persists. Ran mdsched.exe, no errors found. Game crashes/freezes at different points of startup. Sometimes it throws errors, most of the time it doesn't. It just either crashes to desktop or I have to force close via task manager due to a black screen that doesn't progress. At this point I've submitted a ticket to Techland with my logs, screenshots, and info. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Haven't heard back from Techland. Decided to take the nuclear option and reformat my computer. Game works now. Guessing the issue was on my end somehow/somewhere.
