Win10/11 DX12/Ultimate W/WO RTX Game Issues
I believe I may have a work around for games suffering from launch/play issues when using DX12/Ultimate W/WO RTX enabled. Read below.

Dyinglight2 caused me to re investigate many games that are currently suffering from a similar no start or strange error when DX12 is enabled. I have concluded the following.

Currently using Win 11/pro. Was similar prior to upgrading on Win11/pro for Ghostrunner
5950x
2080Ti x 2
Latest Win updates and NVIDIA drivers

My Symptom on this game as well as others:

Game launched one time into menu. I exited and then it would just black screen on launch every time after.

The launch command /nolightfx offered would not help.
No dump files were present in PINNED post location.

Went into c:/Users/yourname/documents/dyinglight2/out/settings and deleted both the video and audio file.

Was able to get game to launch again and back into menu.

Noticed that Geforce experience was activating DX12/ultimate and RTX features.

Windowed/Fullscreen/Windowed borderless has no effect.

Found that DX12 with RTX features was cause

Other games using these features have the same concern.
Two that were fixed that i know of for me were Deliver us the Moon and Ghostrunner.

Fix was complex to find but simple to achieve.

I had to lower my desktop resolution to the (recommended) resolutuion of 1920x1080. I had it at 3840 x 2160.

Once i did this i noticed that all the games that were bricked when DX12 and RTX features were enabled began to work just fine again.

I can also just modify Geforce to run these particular games higher up to my native resolution.

Short story is that DX12/Ultimate is needed for RTX feature in this game and is automatically turned on when you chose the RTX preset.
If you accidentally turned on RTX features you also turned on DX12/ultimate in game.

Geforce experience is doing this for some games that can handle these features.
If you did it yourself and your card is not capable then you get a black startup and crash back to desktop.

At the end I'm not sure if this is a DEV, Microsoft DX12/Ultimate, or NVIDIA/AMD Issue.

Seeing some posts about AMD users though and turning on RTX features having the same issue. It concerns me but the question still remains. Driver, Microsoft or DEVs?

So, If you are running your desktop resolution higher than is recommend try to change and see if that fixes issue.

Yes. DXR 1.1 requires DirectX 12 Ultimate. Ray-racing will not run in regular DirectX 12 or 11. Your 2080Ti supports 12 Ultimate. So I dont understand your issue.

Issue is that this game, deliver us the moon and ghostrunner will not run when set to dx12 ultimate mode and ray tracing enabled if the desktop resolution on my pc is set to anything above recommended 1920 x 1080. Game can be configured to a higher rez no issue. Has something to do with DX12 API launching. Either way this was the fix for me on this game and the two above mentioned. Wanted to share.
