Modding Dying Light 2
I want to install a mod that makes the story harder from nexus mods into DL2 but I just want to make sure that it is safe to do so. It's also in single player, is there a VAC system that can ban me?

Unlike Dying Light, Dying Light 2 has no PvP unlike the First that did so Dying Light most likely doesn't have VAC yet... and the Dying Light Vac was optional.

I deleted my other comment and this is what I meant for anyone that saw the first.

I have an additional question to add to OP's. If I use a mod to quadruple the amount of zombies, can others join my game and will they have the same amount of zombies or do they need to have the mod installed as well?
Tried out around 50 different mods. 110+ hours. Everything is fine

I would imagine yes if your hosting as its your game so they don't need the mod but I could be wrong as while I have modded games for years I'm no expert.

One thing I would say to anyone modding back up your save game file as mods can corrupt save games, its very rare and I never had it happen but its better to be safe than sorry.

I do some modding and a little scripting. As long as you have the files and you host the other players should see the zombie spawns increase.

To me a corrupted save is no biggie. I ran through the game the first time story complete, deathloop. Started new save, story complete with bad ending and black screen bug. Started story a 3rd time, rushed through in 3 hours with the correct choices bugs have been fixed. If worse comes to worse with a save corruption, I'll download a completed save and just go about my day..

Just go for it. Me and some friends are using "tons" of mods.
