You'll be 'eventually' spending half your time trying to find feathers. One efn feather at a time

You can get them in Old Villador fairly easy and if you check with all the craftsman and regular vendors as you play they sometimes sell them too. The crossbow normal ammo takes 1 feather for 10 bolts which isn't a bad trade off especially if you aren't constantly using it for every single enemy you fight. I conserve the crossbow or bow & arrows for big guys, boss fights, or raider leaders.

you get 1-2 feathers at birhouses, and vendors can sell 5 at a time usually atleast selling 1-2. if you casually just buy and loot feathers this way you will have hundreds in no time.

I have 672 feathers on me in my main save and 300-ish arrows stored up and I use a bow pretty often. they arent that hard to get my dude

I know all about it. I check every rooftop birdhouse, every vendor.... vendors have them maybe 30% of the time and you're lucky if you get more than one from vendors too. I've never seen more than 4 at vendors. I blew through hundreds of them because that's really my choice of weapon, sometimes the crossbow, but I find the crossbow OP. I just wish they gave out a few more than 1 at a time at the rooftops. Or have more bird nests throughout the world, like in Tomb Raider. And I don't use it for just the biters unless they swarm.

Yeah, I used to too but now they're all gone and I'm always wasting time looking for freaking arrows. As soon as I get a bunch, they're gone. I use the arrows constantly except for lone Bithers.

The arrows/feather-> feathers found, would be fine if 1 shot headshot, but later game it's like 2-3 shots per z, which just eats arrows faster than you can make them.
Haven't got the xbow since i didn't choose that faction but the bow draw time and lack of damage just makes arrow spam the only way to use it and the economy doesn't allow it.

Tried level 9 gear focused on ranged and it does almost nothing, a ranged build just isn't practical atm.

Level 9 fights on hard difficulty against 7 volatiles is not easy. U can survive by using toughness and health boosts and you will eventually kill them after using 82193784e219747124 weapons but it is not easy. Boosts are OP, they should be nerfed and the amount of feathers in the world increased. You should not be able to survive these kind of fights.

I do use the bow and I do not spend half my time looking for feathers.

I used a lot of arrows on a boss. Wish I had brought more

Never had this problem, but what grinds my gears is that they did not work on bow and arrow mechanics like before. Arrows/bolts not stucked in enemies, cant recover them (even if it would be 50/50), no animation for arrow/bolt changing, you just have to do it in menu ... lazy.
