True Friends Quest (Feedback)
WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

This is my critique/feedback for the quest True Friends.
During the quest True Friends, there is no option or known way to save Buddy. He was wounded saving some stupid kids and that's that. Dog is dead either way.
This is relatively ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for many reasons, the least of which is "noooo not the heckin puppo"; though I will admit that's part of it.

The crux of it however is that we run around the city and just save people at random. We stop people from turning with some shrooms. We save Theodore who was trapped inside a dark hollow for who-knows-how-long. We rescue people in cages and so on; you get the point. Yet when we come across a wounded dog the only thing we can do is kill it or leave it to die. It's as if in this moment Aiden has become entirely stupid and/or impotent. As if the writers said "hurdur dis gun be da hurd choice 4 our frens 2 kill da doggo" and that bothers me. Partly because the dog dies and partly because it dies regardless; but mainly because the choices we make therein are entirely irrelevant to the outcome.

The player is not making a difficult decision. A TRULY difficult decision might be something like using an extremely rare/expensive item, such as a military grade medkit or inhibitor(s) to save Buddy to no benefit of our own. Perhaps we have to hustle somewhere at our own peril in order to pay someone an exuberant sum so they'll go save Buddy (people keep and raise livestock so presumably there's still some form of veterinary medicine being practiced). Perhaps we have to do both, all of the above, or something else entirely. Regardless, THESE would be difficult decisions to make... The way it currently stands the only purpose of the quest seems to be to enforce the "dis a tuff wirld" ideology ala JoJos Bizarre Adventures. It's a cheap-shot, one-and-done, hollow and lazily written quest where there was actually potential to challenge the players morals. Which, as I said before, is lazy writing.
All of this is in spite of how frequently the player saves random NPCs or rescues soon-to-be fathers from inside chemical ridden Dark Hollows at little to no danger or expense to themselves.

Hopefully a modder(s) step up and actually add some depth to this shallow quest and others like it.

Whole heartedly agree. Came looking for an alternative. Really disappointed there isn't. Morally questionable at best, and doesn't sit well with me personally.

I just left the dog alone. Kill a dog? What for? I'm not a veterinarian, and the dog doesn't even look injured.

Yeah leave the dog in a dark hollow where he was clearly in pain just waiting to get eaten alive by zombies. You big brain very smart wtf dude. The dog was just badly animated but was clearly wounded. Try using your brain next time instead of leaving a nearly death dog waiting to be torn apart. GG

Once again, I did not see a dog mortally wounded. Unlike all the zombies around.
If the dog was really depicted as crippled, then yes, the best option would be to kill the dog.
But since Aiden hasn't even looked at the animal (he doesn't care) - I prefer to give the animal a chance rather than decide for the dog.

You comment got me thinking that perhaps we're being being bamboozled into killing the dog thinking we're doing the right thing. Have you returned to that area to see if Buddy's body is still lying on that couch? I'm thinking that maybe Buddy isn't actually dying and that if we choose to leave him be then maybe some time later he'll return to Dominik.
