Can't progress story without Dev Mod
Full story below. TLDR the Dev Mod is the only way to resolve game breaking co-op induced progression problems.

My main story line was at "The Raid" mission. The progression point in the mission is when everyone has congregated at the windmill and are sitting around on couches, waiting for Sophie to show up. When she shows up, she appears inside a bunch of old computer equipment. Unfortunately the place that Sophie is placed is not accessible to your player so you can't talk to her, so you can't progress the main story. Also when waiting around you talk to the self centered woman on the couch which will glitch you into a nice big crate that now sits in front of the couch, which requires you quit and reload.

I love a good mystery and wanted to know why this was happening, so I began digging. I played the game up to "The Raid" mission. Then I later joined 3 friends to play "co-op". Friend 1 had played beyond the mission. Friend 2 was not yet at the mission. We all joined Friend 3 and played from the beginning. We went beyond "The Raid" mission and aligned with the PKs, as any sane person would. Friend 3 has to leave, so I want to host the game now. Oh yeah, we can't really progress together, so we really just need to wait for him. Well, screw it, I decided to just play solo. Then I was shocked and angered as to what happened when I encountered the problem with Sophie. At this point I was the only one on and all friends had left.

Next day I work with Friend 2 to figure out WTF. He gets to the mission "The Raid" and is at the same point in the story as me. I join him and "What is this?", his windmill looks entirely different. It is made of sticks and nails, and is no longer modernly updated with corrugated metal and old Brother laser printers. Sophie is available to talk to, since she is not stuffed inside a bunch of old PCs and an old Brother Laser printer.

Troubleshot some more and found that the next quest in the story is "The Arrival". I loaded the Dev Mod and found that I could load a dialog skip to a point in that quest. The Dev Mod was nice enough to ask me how I wanted to finish "The Raid" mission. The answer of course was to abandon Sophie, since this had already been done by renovations implemented by the PKs.

So don't play "co-op" with anyone beyond that quest if you haven't already yourself. Apparently when you align with the PKs in someone else's game it may or may not change the windmill used in "The Raid" mission to a modified setup that comes from this alignment.

If you want to play with friends, you should play the game solo, but with friends in the same voice chat. This is much more enjoyable from a game functionality perspective. The chaos of 4 people beating down an Anomaly with makeshift weapons is much more fun though. The glitches in the game have made it more fun from a comedic perspective.

There's so many electronics and wiring that could be scavenged from that. You know, for those electroni...er I mean electric buffs.
What is Dev Mod? Is it from another website or is it an actual dev tool in the game?
