Vendors Useless for Items after Upgrading
So this doesn't apply to weapons and clothes, obviously, but vendors only sell non-upgraded items, so the moment I upgrade a schematic, it seems to forever lose the ability to restock that item.

Example: I upgrade the health kit a couple of bars. So now if I manually craft it, it's level 3, but if I go buy it, it's still level one (and takes up a separate item slot).

Is this a bug or a feature?

It happens with all the consumables.

Different traders have different selection. Some will sell you rank 1 some rank 3 etc. Rarely some sell you some high level item. But I pretty much never bought any consumable.

I mean if you think its useless thats you, i have rank 6 medis and i still buy and use the rank 1 heals from venders, why, Because its cheap, also it helps me stock up on my stronger heals, and i use them when im in real trouble, but i use the rank 1 heals when im just fooling around and need a quick heal,

But if im in a crazy battle, and or boss i use my big rank 6 heals

Had to use few healings only coz I tanked when I should dodge. The cheap heals are useless coz each one takes 4secs and if you have enough HP you will regenerate quite big chunk by yourself. Anyway currently I can craft around 50 heals and I doubt I will use that many till end of the game :D

That's kinda the idea. You use traders if you get desperate. Otherwise, games like this you should be able to mostly be self-sustainable.

Perhaps I should not have used the health as the example since all of you focused on that one thing like that was all I was talking about. Personally, I don't care about the health too much as I rarely, if ever, need it. I'm talking primarily of all the other consumables (immunity, strength, etc.) and bombs, decoys, etc.

The same "broken" (by design) mechanic applies to crafting items in general. I had 50 level 1 lock picks, and then when I went and upgraded the schematic to level 4, Now I have 50 useless lock picks and have to recreate them all from scratch. And, please, don't focus on this lock pick example and say, "Oh, lock picks are cheap to craft." This applies to EVERY schematic, be it picks, mods, items, whatever.

I decree this a broken design mechanic because it makes one not want to bother crafting anything until one is fully upgraded.
Well... That's, how things should work? You are upgrading the Blueprint. Not the items.

Let's say realistically you draw 10 Stick figures and all look like garbage.

Then you take a few artists classes and your next drawing is great.

Your other 10 drawings wont immediately get better.

The lesson you've learned here is to not craft in bulk when you don't need too.

vendors where mostly useless for my playthrough. They always had almost nothing to sell while only buying SOME of my armor for 3-6 coins so time to time I have throw 30 purple/yellow items on the floor because it takes selling 1000 clothing to buy one.
