Save File not working?

I searched to find the save file location and there's clearly a save file in there.
But when I open the game there's just New Game. if I hit load game I'm met with just New Game. WTF?

EDIT: Also it appears the game doesn't close in Steam after I close the game itself. It still says I'm playing Dying Light 2.
I went into Task Manager the first time and simply ended the Dying Light 2 process. Now I wonder if that's why the save game doesn't work?

Having the same problem. I think it has already been acknowledged that some people are having problems with the game not finding their previous save games.

So after just simply rebooting the game(no PC reboot needed), the 'Continue' prompt came up after all. No clue why but I guess you just gotta open/close the game repeatedly till it recognizes the save file. Some $60 game this is turning out to be lmao

I found a solution that worked for me.

Someone in another thread said to validate the integrity of the game files and it should bring your saved games back. I just tried it and it worked for me.

Give it a shot and see if that solves the problem.

go to Documents > Dying Light 2 > out > save_backups

Is it empty, or is there a .bak file in there?
If it's empty, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Gotta start over from scratch.
If there's a file in there, your saved game is still fine. Just reboot the game over and over till the continue button pops up. Works for me.

do u have a backup of the save file itself...what u need to do is start a new game, immediately exit before even a cutscene appears...exit the game and copy the savegame over the one you just started. I had to do this initially copying a friends game into mine so i could skip the tutorial and jump right into coop with him, screw waiting 2 hours to play.
