Can't Start Main Quest, keeps saying "Please Wait"

My friend and I are on the "Only Way Out" Story quest. We're supposed to "find" Hubert Kerbatsos. Earlier we came across this and climbed up the windmill. We like to do side things before continuing the main story. We came back later to continue the main story quests and it keeps saying "Please Wait" And we can't continue the story. I'm assuming it's because we built the Windmill before talking to him but either way we need a fix for this bug.

Same, joining online coop did not help, restart game did not help, Im desperate

it seems to me that this will not be fixed in the near future, so the only correct solution is to replay the game without improving this tower ahead of time

I also built the windmill before chasing Hubert but didnt run into issues

I also did all windmills before continuing the main missions, and I'm stuck in the same way ! Also restarted the game a few times and it does not fix the problem.

This game has some progression tracking issues, I've posted a temporary fix for this in the Discussions forums, please share:

Tried this solution but it does not fix the problem, Im still stuck

Had the same issue yesterday after completely cleaning out the first zone, tried a bunch of things such as restarting the game, verifying game files, reinstalling the game, going online, tweaking configuration but nothing did the trick... so I started from scratch speedrunning up to that point in the MSQ without doing side stuff and it worked.

Sucked to start again but since it wasn't fixed in day one patch better that than simply wait for a later fix.

Yes, I did that too and it worked. I hope there will be no other similar problems in the future.

We ended up starting over and since the game is a lot of fun it wasn't too bad. I still have that save just in case it decides to start working but I'm already past that point in the story. I'm just afraid I'm going to come across something like this again. If any of you are stuck I recommend just starting over.
