In DL1, you could really feel every impact, and you could even break arms and legs on humans, while chopping off zombie parts without killing them. Good luck doing that in DL2. Hit boxes are also way worse. I did some testing on zombies and humans, and targetting the legs or the head result in the exact same animation. There is no point in trying to hit specific part of your foes anymore, it's all the same. Still, it's okay while fighting zombies but humans enemies are a real pain since they can stagger you constantly while avoiding any damage with a series of dodge. I mean, if i'm using a 2 handed hammer, i should be able to hit an enemy in front of me even if he's taking a small step to the side right?.
And then crafting... Yeah remember when you could create powerful and fun weapons from scraps found in a dumpster. Well, you can't do that anymore since it's now impossible to craft weapon, you can only add mods to existing stuff. No point in retrieving weapons in the open world except the ones you can maybe found in high rarity chest.
So yeah, i love DL2 because it really improves some aspects of the first game but it's sad to see some of the old stuff being streamlined in something that feels way worse.
it usually takes a few month or even long for people to adapt something new and after that happens, they love it.. trust me it will be the same with DL2...
Dl2 makes so many things way better imo than DL1 and im already tired to name every aspects with arguments...
the only thing which is really a step back it this point are the zombie physics... its a bit weird in some situations and i hope they will fix it...
when you now hit zombies, they fall back in that direction you hit, that was not the case in DL1... you could slash into them like hell and there were rushing forwards to you... but like i said, DL1 had a slighly better physics system, but the combat itself feels better in DL2 imo...
This post and the post above, taken from my cranium with fine tweezers.
People are tiresome with the comparisons; "Oh its not better than Dying light 1"
>Cause Dying Light 1 was basically one of them Sandbox type games where you yeeting a zombie like they're tissue paper, is fun.
You can do the same; once you unlock the skill, and the appeal is just different because you're going 1x speed, not the speed of sound. Objects, actually carry their weight in Dying Light 2.... Sometimes.
I relaunched DL1 recently to test this out and no, i have to disagree here. Try for yourself, fight a zombie in the beginning of DL1 and do the same in DL2, the differences should be obvious.
You forgot: Lick glass + suck knobs + ratiod
Though it kinda does look way better, honestly.
DL1 had a "Cleaner" look, but yeah, technology has really evolved since then so, obviously, DL2 is way more detailed and can sometimes really look great.
Yeah immersion kinda steps in with the health bars and behold behold, you can turn them off at will (I just checked, I didn't know you could do that, I just hopped in the game myself xD)
Edit: Check Settings and go to Hud; i suppose this was added for sake of player immersion, Techland cares believe it or not.
dude thats pure BS... the foliage in DL2 looks outstanding with raytraced Ambient a. and lightning...
Edit: OH SRY, I think i misunderstood you :D
Depending on your settings, or your outlook on games; it might come off as that, considering I played dying light for a week after work to prep for 2, I see noticeable differences.. Eyes. O-O
