Yeah... I played DL1 on Xbox 360 and on PC (finished it on both platforms) and I can't recall ever throwing weapons. There wasn't really an incentive to do it in the first place, just a damage bonus I guess? And you had to pick it up from a zombies/floor afterwards as well, for me it was tedious mechanic.
I do remember throwing weapons in Dead Island 1 and Riptide though. I can't remember what was different in these games, but it worked to some extent.
I 100% agree, although I wish the feature was still available for getting rid of junk weapons like the OP said. Remember when Dead Rising removed the throwable items feature and everyone got upset?
If its fun its not utterly useless imo, chucking hammers at zombies heads never got old
but at the end i stopped throwing gold weapons because it was bugged, weapons diseappered often.
