Just a little advice
Can we just get a mod or a dev to lock this mess of a thread? Reminds me when people were pissed off over Subnautica not having a female character. Y'know, the game where the mc doesn't even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ talk, and you don't even see his body half of the time unless you are purposely trying to look at it.
You have either played very few games, or just ones with bad writing. Including character options does not in any way harm the story. If you would like, I can offer you dozens of examples -- many of them publicly and critically lauded. This argument verges on being nonsensical. It is roughly equivalent to saying "one time a bird pooped on my head, that's how I know all birds should be exterminated."
There are very few positions on this argument. One is a bizarre form of corporate white-knighting on behalf of multi-billion dollar entertainment companies. Another is angry incels with delusions that including anyone unlike them somehow robs them of entertainment, making the point that whatever other choice doesn't resonate with them -- and at the same time trying to say that said choice being resonant with other people isn't important.
And then there's... the rest of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world. This includes both people who are similar and dissimilar to you, personally. It also includes people who aren't threatened by anything outside of their personal comfort zone. And people with empathy. And people who are capable of normal human relationships with more than one specific subset of people.
The massive ongoing blather on this forum in relation to this subject has made it extremely clear who people are. Having grown up a "nerd" when it wasn't cool, I am genuinely shocked at how many of us became masturbatory internet bullies, instead of standing up for other people who get bullied. I never knew how much of my peers turned to antisocial trash. It's sad to find out.
I know the chances of anyone listening here approach zero, but I still participate for two reasons. First, I have a wife daughter, and a multitude of friends -- all of whom love games. I care about them, so I want them to have the same thing I get out of relatable game characters who look like me. Second, I possess empathy. There are way more people in the world who are unlike me than otherwise. Those people would probably like those things, too.
Imagine a world where the bullied people all stood up for one another, instead of infighting based on manipulative political hacks and corporate interests trying to poison consumer unity with false, divisive, nonexistent "issues" to protect their bonuses.
I imagine most of the people who disagree will not have read this, but on the chance that a single person will read and stop to think about what they stand for, it's worth it. Bring on the hate. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But it's still a lot. Games like DL are targeted at a male audience because relatively few women (or people who identify as such) play such games. So, it's doubtful they'll decide to add a female playable character. But who knows, maybe they will.
That's cherry picking. It's not a fair argument.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.... this is not a reason, other Games managed that too :)
and for a rpg like Game in 2020 its a big no go to havnt a real character creation...
but its okay, i know you love males, its okay for me :)
its a zombie game where you hack and slash and dismember, no one cares about genders here, go play skyrim with your female nude mod lil weaboo.
Your wife can play as a male character and if that's going to be a deal-breaker for her she can skip the game as simple as that,
Every game should have its own identity, and if this game choose to have an exclusive male lead that is absolutely fine and there is nothing wrong with that.
This is a ludicrous position. Of course not every game needs the same amount of customization. But Dying Light is one of the most easy, obvious candidates for it, and there is no rational reason not to do it. You could refer to the earlier arguments and citations if you need a massive litany of reasons why this is not just a good idea, it's also a patently obvious one. ...And why a bunch of dude are getting weirdly emotional about an optional feature they constantly claim they won't use.
Like I've said before -- I don't expect this thread to convince the incel crowd, but I'm also never going to back off of a basic mature adult position because some curiously insecure guys are triggered. The difference is, I'm not depressed, alone, and sliding irrevocably into complete irrelevance.
This argument is genuinely nuts, but I suspect it is being driven by children who haven't sexually matured. Well, I hope that's the case. The other possibility is just embarrassing.
You have clearly never developed a game. None of this is correct. It's okay. Just breathe. You're going to be okay. The big bad vagina isn't gonna get ya, champ.
