Is Kyle Crane Still Alive or Dead?
Now I'm touching on this topic since The Following's Ending was a little bit confusing, now there were two options, either fight Mother or agree to her intentions, one of them was to fight her and get the cure, the last cut scene we saw Crane having lots of hallucinations and possibly when he got out turned, but doesn't that mean he is dead? or so gone? the other option was to initiate a nuclear warhead, that of course killed Kyle Crane, but that didn't stop the plague from spreading, and Dying Light 2 mentions "The Last Human Settlement" so it didn't kill off all of the Harran Virus? the nuclear explosion?

2015 is when Kyle Crane was sent to investigate the Harran Virus, 2016 is when Crane went to The Following, and this takes place 15 years later and now we're introduced to Aiden, has Kyle Crane's Journey End? Or still live on?

I'm certain the game will have references to the previous game, the real question here is, where is Brecken and did he survive? Also where is the cure that the main game was focused in? Crane won in the end and there has to be some sort of connection with this moment within DL2, there might be someone in the game that has knowledge about this cure and how to develop it.

Anyways the tower should be lost at the end of the game, but there is no signs of Brecken being dead, plus he was the original cover for DL1 with the "run boy run" trailer, i am certain everyone that saw the trailer thought you would play as him untill you met him at the tower. I do think that Brecken could very well become one of the main characters in this game helping you out. And at some point Brecken will touch the subject about Kyle Crane and his unknown fate.

Kyle Crane can make an appearence in this game, he is a special kind of zombie, similiar to the mother perhaps. It is also easy to assume that the virus spreading out of harran is linked with Kyle Crane escaping via the sewers. He was out of the quarantine zone at the end of the following, so it should be obvious that the virus spreads from there. From all the characters from DL1, the only ones that might show up again are these two, in terms of lore, they are the only two that could make any sort of sense to return. I just don't know how Kyle Crane can be introduced into this game, unless he is some rampant super zombie that is "destroying" humanity and you get to hunt him down at some point, that would be anticlimatic.

I think Crane is alive just he is like the mother at day he is normal and human at night he turns into night hunter like a werewolf type thing
He could be like tell people to run away from him while he is transforming cause i dont think his form is permanent cause the mother in the following explained she loves all her children but at night she cant help it and kills people etc.
I think we should get to see kyle crane as a zombie in dying light 2, and kill him: that would be interesting.

And he should be your father

Cheesy plot idea.

Seeing him again could work or not, but i think the best approach is to learn how he "died", would be interisting if he managed to leave Harran and fight GRE to some extent but ended up dead or captured. This is information we could get from Spike or GRE labs.
Sentient volly i reckon. But we shall see...
nope I reckon that the following aint cannon, they never told us the following is cannon, never confirmed or denied. Plot twist, because you see Crane is in the spike event which happens right after Rais dies, Spike calls crane for help soo where could he have been? This begs the question wether The Following is cannon or not! Also Techland have lied vaious times in the past about D2, why would they expose wether crane is dead or alive? Let alone wether The Following is cannon or not.:headbash:
I was thinking he was the volatile at the end of 'The Following'.
That zombie was pretty overpowered and had way more abilities than normal volatiles.
Scary to think how many might be out there like Crane.

lol I'm not really sure, I barely played "be the zombie" I was just thinking about the lore of it all.
Crane will be the super zombie you play as in the pvp mode :) end of story! There you go, band aided
People that played the game said that as goes for the haran virus they found a cure for that strain but some other morons still worked on the virus and ofcourse relase mutated strain that decimated the human population.
It's really not ambiguous. The nuclear bomb destroyed Harran and the land around it. The other ending had you go outside of Harran's borders as a volatile, just as it turns into night time. It would only make sense that the only ending to create the situation for DL2 is volatile ending no?

Well it could be interpreted as the nuke goes off but doesnt kill all the infected, and now the walls/borders are destroyed any roaming infected can go out of harran and further infect the rest of Turkey
