Is Kyle Crane Still Alive or Dead?
Now I'm touching on this topic since The Following's Ending was a little bit confusing, now there were two options, either fight Mother or agree to her intentions, one of them was to fight her and get the cure, the last cut scene we saw Crane having lots of hallucinations and possibly when he got out turned, but doesn't that mean he is dead? or so gone? the other option was to initiate a nuclear warhead, that of course killed Kyle Crane, but that didn't stop the plague from spreading, and Dying Light 2 mentions "The Last Human Settlement" so it didn't kill off all of the Harran Virus? the nuclear explosion?

2015 is when Kyle Crane was sent to investigate the Harran Virus, 2016 is when Crane went to The Following, and this takes place 15 years later and now we're introduced to Aiden, has Kyle Crane's Journey End? Or still live on?

I'm certain the game will have references to the previous game, the real question here is, where is Brecken and did he survive? Also where is the cure that the main game was focused in? Crane won in the end and there has to be some sort of connection with this moment within DL2, there might be someone in the game that has knowledge about this cure and how to develop it.

Anyways the tower should be lost at the end of the game, but there is no signs of Brecken being dead, plus he was the original cover for DL1 with the "run boy run" trailer, i am certain everyone that saw the trailer thought you would play as him untill you met him at the tower. I do think that Brecken could very well become one of the main characters in this game helping you out. And at some point Brecken will touch the subject about Kyle Crane and his unknown fate.

Kyle Crane can make an appearence in this game, he is a special kind of zombie, similiar to the mother perhaps. It is also easy to assume that the virus spreading out of harran is linked with Kyle Crane escaping via the sewers. He was out of the quarantine zone at the end of the following, so it should be obvious that the virus spreads from there. From all the characters from DL1, the only ones that might show up again are these two, in terms of lore, they are the only two that could make any sort of sense to return. I just don't know how Kyle Crane can be introduced into this game, unless he is some rampant super zombie that is "destroying" humanity and you get to hunt him down at some point, that would be anticlimatic.

You're going too much into details of what would not be the plot of the second game. Maybe a hint here and there to explain some questions left, nothing else, I guess.

The volakyle ending was canon and crane probably is dead.. devs did mention things about crane but i don't think he will return. Easter eggs galore about him however will be prominent

After he become zombie he probably destroy the world all by himself

he is a zombie that's the real ending so he is either dead or a evolved Zombie

would be an interesting dlc to fight him shortly after meeting him in his "sane" state

Crane is either dead or a talking zombieman. Either way his story is over.

When he started hearing voices in his head he was dead to the world. The ending part where you either fight mother or side with her.

What do you call it when you see someone from another game? Cameo? Dont be surprised theres like a cameo in the game.

I've heard from other people that there will not be any returning characters from Dying Light 1, but I could be wrong. I've also heard a lot about the following not being canon with the main story, but as I said before, I could be wrong.

The tower is not lost in Dying Light 1, If you play the battle royale which takes place some time after the first dying light, you can see that both the original tower and the tower that had the training courses have been improved upon and the cranes have been used

dead. turned into a volitile. and infects the area outside of the containment zone. thus creating the now dying light 2.

I did not support that release, because i do consider it a bad thing on their end. They have done good stuff but making a BR addition was redicolous.

Anyways, it doesn't matter if the tower is lost or not at the end of the following, because Dying Light 2 implies that everything is lost except for the area in DL2. Crane is dead and is most likely not returning again because the main character for DL2 is the same voice actor (at least he sounds the same to me, the first moment he spoke in the new gameplay footage, i instantly noticed the voice actor). This literally kills any chances of seeing Kyle Crane in the game, unless he is zombified and some sort of horde leader to the zombies. Sounds too cheesy. There could be recordings of Crane scattered around, but that would make little to no sense since this is a different area...

What really matters to me here is Brecken, he is the only character from the first game that should have a return to some extent. He was the "main character" in the trailers and he was the leader in the tower, he is also the one character where you have no clue what happened after the following. He could be dead, he could be alive... I just wish there was some sort of connection like this between the two games, it could create a deep bond with the character, this is like having kenny from TWD surviving S1 and having him survive multiple seasons and have that feeling that he has been around for as long as you been.

I have a feeling the story telling in DL2 will be as redundant as the first one and will be easily forgettable, the multiple options is nice and adds replayability but i would rather see a focus in a decent storyline vs a storyline with multiple endings and options. Quality over quantity essentially.

Was Brecken his last name? Maybe Aiden is somewhat or somehow related, or was trained by him?
