What do you call it when you see someone from another game? Cameo? Dont be surprised theres like a cameo in the game.
Anyways the tower should be lost at the end of the game, but there is no signs of Brecken being dead, plus he was the original cover for DL1 with the "run boy run" trailer, i am certain everyone that saw the trailer thought you would play as him untill you met him at the tower. I do think that Brecken could very well become one of the main characters in this game helping you out. And at some point Brecken will touch the subject about Kyle Crane and his unknown fate.
Kyle Crane can make an appearence in this game, he is a special kind of zombie, similiar to the mother perhaps. It is also easy to assume that the virus spreading out of harran is linked with Kyle Crane escaping via the sewers. He was out of the quarantine zone at the end of the following, so it should be obvious that the virus spreads from there. From all the characters from DL1, the only ones that might show up again are these two, in terms of lore, they are the only two that could make any sort of sense to return. I just don't know how Kyle Crane can be introduced into this game, unless he is some rampant super zombie that is "destroying" humanity and you get to hunt him down at some point, that would be anticlimatic.
The tower is not lost in Dying Light 1, If you play the battle royale which takes place some time after the first dying light, you can see that both the original tower and the tower that had the training courses have been improved upon and the cranes have been used
I did not support that release, because i do consider it a bad thing on their end. They have done good stuff but making a BR addition was redicolous.
Anyways, it doesn't matter if the tower is lost or not at the end of the following, because Dying Light 2 implies that everything is lost except for the area in DL2. Crane is dead and is most likely not returning again because the main character for DL2 is the same voice actor (at least he sounds the same to me, the first moment he spoke in the new gameplay footage, i instantly noticed the voice actor). This literally kills any chances of seeing Kyle Crane in the game, unless he is zombified and some sort of horde leader to the zombies. Sounds too cheesy. There could be recordings of Crane scattered around, but that would make little to no sense since this is a different area...
What really matters to me here is Brecken, he is the only character from the first game that should have a return to some extent. He was the "main character" in the trailers and he was the leader in the tower, he is also the one character where you have no clue what happened after the following. He could be dead, he could be alive... I just wish there was some sort of connection like this between the two games, it could create a deep bond with the character, this is like having kenny from TWD surviving S1 and having him survive multiple seasons and have that feeling that he has been around for as long as you been.
I have a feeling the story telling in DL2 will be as redundant as the first one and will be easily forgettable, the multiple options is nice and adds replayability but i would rather see a focus in a decent storyline vs a storyline with multiple endings and options. Quality over quantity essentially.
