1.- On the Steam main window ,right click in the game name.
2.- Go to Properties.
3.- Local Files.
4.- Verify integrity of game files.
5.- The game will install automatically the files missing (if any).
That's all. It seemed that there were some files that were not installed. Game launched correctly after that.
I might have an unconventional solution. I ried he following and it worked two times already:
I start the game and then i launched Firefox. After some time the game eventually started!
Hope it works for you too guys
What I did was trying to start the game via the .exe file instead of using steam (the standard location is \Steam\steamapps\common\Life is Strange 2\LIS2\Binaries\Win64\LIS2-Win64-Shipping.exe).
Instead of just not starting this resulted in an error message that stated that the "msvcp140.dll" was missing. I found the dll in the internet and placed it in the directory.
After starting the .exe again, there seemed to be a second .dll-file missing, this time it was the vcruntime140.dll. I downloaded that one too, placed it in the game directory, started the .exe once more and - here we go, the game started!
tl;dr: open the local game directory, start the LIS2-Win64-Shipping.exe, find the missing .dll-files and place them into the directory. Repeat until the game starts.
I hope this works for some of you guys too.
This works, dafuq. How random? Thank you <3
I've just bought Life is strange 2 complete season. I've installed the game on Steam without issue, but when I launch the game, nothing happens. I've verified all files via steam tools and I've re-installed and rebooted my PC but the game don't launch. I've tried to launch the game with another window account. In the task manager, LIS2 runs that's why I have 64 min time played even if the game never opens.

I eventually downloaded the Unreal 4 engine here https://epicgames-download1.akamaized.net/Builds/UnrealEngineLauncher/Installers/Win32/EpicInstaller-10.7.0.msi?launcherfilename=EpicInstaller-10.7.0-unrealengine.msi . Through installing the engine, some dependencies downloaded. I don't know which dependencies, but now I am able to see the menu.
Side note, initially I did have missing direct x dlls which I resolved and allowed the game to load to a certain point mentioned above.
did you check the integrity of the game and verified it wasnt running on mine but when iverified it steam deemed a file unvalidated and downloaded just that file again after that it ran without any issue
