I've read it all, and for the good part I actually want to say you helped me review some assumptions I had over this character. However, on a lesser good note, it's a bit sad to see that your opinion doesn't include some counterpart. You love Finn so much your opinion isn't nuanced. For example, you did not include Cassidy's thoughts on Finn when the player refuses to take part into the heist. Maybe you did not play that path, but he did explain pretty well that his tendancy to manipulate (or at least, seize opportunities) isn't new.

Good manipulators often appear to be seen sweet too. Also, if we was really that in love with Sean, wouldn't it be a betrayal to say "i respect your decision" and go to the heist anyway? He even dare saying something like Daniel forced him to go. Sure... It's Daniel's fault. Manipulators are the best at blaming others for their own choices.

I could almost challenge every point you made with this type of reasoning, but I think you got the idea ;)

Good points, really. But I personally still (want to) believe that Finn isn't a bad guy, but rather just a bit selfish and not very smart.

I've seen full walkthrough with Cassidy and different options in her route. As for the heist, I can say that Finn was just impulsive and didn't think enough about the consequences, this idea of his and his beliefs in a better life after, as well as the success of the plan itself, overshadowed his head. It's a terrible plan, but he didn't come up with it due to his bad intentions. As for Daniel, the child has incredible power, remember how he strangled Cassidy with it, he could easily influence Finn, in case of his refusal, and still go there. But, as already was mentioned, Finn's plan took up too much space in his head, so i bet he agreed whithout a doubt. In a global sense, of course, it does not matter, for what reasons good or bad. The result is the same. Cassidy says that something has happened because of Finn in the past, but ♥♥♥♥ happens in every family (this thing was the first one THAT bad), especially if it's a community of runaways. Finn did a lot more good for them, and if it wasn't for him, nobody would have had anything they have now. I truly believe that Daniel insisted to go rob Merrill. Even in the scene when Finn first talks about the heist, you can see how interested Daniel is. You should also remember that Daniel wanted to go further and set off from the camp (to his mom or as Sean says to Puerto Lobos) and the lack of money always stopped them from it. He tells his brother that he gave Finn the go-ahead to rob Merrill because he and Sean needed the money. You always forget that a 9-year-old child has to work and earn cash in an illegal business, being surrounded by bandits. I feel him and understand why Daniel wants to get out of there so bad.
You can make as many arguments as I can counter.
I'll say only one more thing - we will see.

btw thank you for the interest and your feedback

I take this opportunity to say that, sadly, given how Finn dies in 4 of the (i think they're) 6 possible endings, I think that choosing him over Cassidy will have no real impact on the story as a whole, and that we won't be seeing the romantic relationship between him and Sean develop. I hope it's not the case, I REALLY hope it isn't, but I just have this feeling.

You know, I have an idea about Finn's death. Maybe he's the one who could die because of the idea of Daniel's attitude towards Finn. It can be an option which will turn Sean's brother loosing his mind. Because, from Daniel's POV, Finn is a friend, and besides Dan's father, his friends are Noah, Lyla, Mushroom, Chris, Finn. He's already lost too much. Pay attention to the possible outcomes and how Dan reacts to them. Look at what happens if Chris gets hurt, if Finn gets killed, his reaction says it all. These are the choices that affect Dan's sanity 100%. Probably, either Finn\Cassidy will be removed, or they will remain to the end. Also maybe there would be only one of them or none of them depending on the decisions. But judging by the first season I can safely outline the importance of a love interest in the game (you can kill the whole city for one person). Otherwise why did they even were included? I think developers are just playing with variations and there will possibly be a more branching plot, at least I certainly hope so. Let's wait and believe in a happy ending.

:em_boom: But my heart will fall apart if they ruin Finn, honestly.

Eh, I don't know, honestly. I feel like we're going to get another Kate Marsh, if you get what I mean (in the first LiS, the characters in episodes 2, 3, 4 and 5 act as if she were dead, whether the player does or does not manage to prevent her from committing suicide).

I actually pretty much came to the same conclusions about Finn that you outlined. Couldn't
agree more. As to whether he, or any of the camp characters return for episode 4...well..I
hope they do. But I'm afraid they won't. I have to say it was very, very nice being able to see
Sean interact with people his own age. Having Sean mostly interact with only Daniel sort of
locked his character into one mode: caretaker (or Daniel Wrangler as he calls it). This episode
for me was like a breath of fresh air because we managed to have more mature dialogue and
relationships. Maybe I like the camp crew because they were that fresh air. But I'd love to see
some, or all of them, join Sean in his search for Daniel. Building ongoing relationships with
them would be much better than scraping them. The story NEEDS some characters to be
around for more than one episode. But nice work and analysis of Finn

I feel you, but I still have hope :( I just think that these characters like Finn and Cass are too special and too detailed. It will be a shame if they don't give us an opportunity to have a LI as a backup and support. I feel like Sean would be in need of that because of this mess at the end of ep3 and he also lost his eye. I think that it would be too cruel to let him suffer through this alone.

I agree with you. They've been through a lot. Every episode something bad happens and it's so unfair to Sean. Also this kid already being not just a brat. And the ending is super scary. I expect to see more relief moments in the 4th episode because Sean deserves love and happiness. He's lost so much of his youth. I hope these events won't drive him crazy and that's where Finn or Cass could help. I just hope there will be an opportunity like that. I feel like Sean making his own family somewhere safe is the best way to manage everything.

Thank you so much for your opinion and reading all this. Means a lot.

Bye bye, Finn, 't was nice to meet you. Once again our choices get shafted.
julian.varanel Aug 20, 2019 @ 8:57am
Certainly looks like it. Constantly reshuffling the deck every episode, deleting really interesting characters to the recycle bin, is one of my major issues with this season.
di0naea Aug 22, 2019 @ 6:38am
I guess we have to wait a little bit more to be sure.

The ending with Finn is what I got when I finished the game and jesus christ Sean turned out hot and him and Finn look very cute together.
