Why did the family at the Gas Station, especially the husband.
Got such a bad attitude towards Sean when he tried to speak to the family, even before Sean was asking for food.
They are just kids.

Fair enough, but I think most people would be cautious if two dirty (and maybe bloody) kids come up to your table where you and your family casually enjoys a meal. The dad's grumpy though, due to the long trip, according to his wife.

Fun thing I noticed is that it seems as if Dontnod uses the wifes character model for the bus driver in the beginning of the game when Sean gets off the bus :claugh: She gets around.

Probaby the dad is as racist as the shop owner.

Maybe, maybe not. He didn't act it out at least.

Yeah.
A) He wanted to relax with his family

B) He could sense they were about to start begging

Wanting to be left alone is reasonable. Not wanting to share food with beggars is reasonable. You don't know who they are or why they're begging. He could have been more gentle for sure. He definitely is teaching his daughter some bad manners.

Well according to a lot on this message board...everyone in the game is against them because racism LOL

But the fact is when strangers just walk up to you while you're eating, you might pause and wonder what they want or if they're dangerous. You might say they're just kids, but Sean isn't a little kid. He might be a teen, but he's an older teen. And you don't know their motives at all.

Think of it this way...go back to that scene in your head. Imagine if you were out eating with your family and two strangers just walk up to you. They're both dirty and Daniel's shirt has "blood" on it (the family has no clue if it's real or not). How would you feel?

Don't know if you guys know this but the family did give me food. You have to send Daniel, not Sean.

Don't you mean - Why did Dontnod write the story in such a way as to give the husband a bad attitude towards these kids ? Guess you'd have to ask Dontnod. Only they know what they were thinking when they wrote the script if they didn't openly explain it in the game.

Yep, you can manipulate the parents to give them their food if you send in the younger brother :claugh: He seems to pretty good at playing people "like a damn fiddle".

At one point he says something about, that he thought they had left California to get away from this. With "this" he obviously meant people like Sean and Daniel. Not sure if he meant specifically Mexicans or just criminals, beggars or poor people etc.

I took it as he meant homeless/beggars/poor as some areas of California have huge problems with that. I got the impression he’s just a very private individual who isn’t overly excited about his families move in general and just wants to be left alone - and we all know people like that!

I managed to get food out of them without making Daniel beg so the wife at least seemed nice - just had to talk to her a bit first

From the cop firing, the racist old guy, and lylas comment about the election - is an obvious pattern. It's because they're Hispanic. Calif is well known for a high Hispanic population

I doubt it was racism. The girl seemed like a brat and the parents seemed fed up. This just seems like your run of the mill family road trip where the excitement has gone and tensions are running high.
