In all earnestness, while I liked the Arcadia Bay setting and its denizens better than the one in Life is Strage 2, I never understood why so many people in these forums hate this game with such passion. It was for the most part entertaining, and there were moments where it even was moving, the stroy was solid even if there were plotholes large enough to march the Romanian Army through (as there were in Season 1 and Before the Storm). All in all, I enjoyed LiS2 and share your sentiment, that it was better to start with new characters than expanding on Max and Chloe with a mediocre sequel (the superb one is in our head).
Exactly. I still have to start episode 2, and until now locations were a bit better in LiS1. But until now that is the only aspect in which the first one is better than this! I wouldn't say that LiS2 is better than LiS1, but they surely are on the same level.
Maybe continuing the game will make me change opinion, but for now I am loving this story as much as I loved the first one.
I didn't care for the new art style frankly, a bit too... stiff. Despite some odd dialogue pacing/lip syncing issues (all of them had this honestly) the main cast wasn't bad either, Esteban is by far my favorite - vc Amador Plascencia sounds quite comfortable in his role. The scenes aren't as memorable as in previous titles, sure, but LIS2 has its moments. Like the cougar attack and leaving their grandparents house, especially knowing Chris can potentially get hit by a car while escaping . Overall, I expected much worse. Personally, I'd say anyone who wants to play it to make your own opinion about the story, or play the demo, without letting nostalgia or heated debates choose for you.
I fear not. Especially with you being so critical of the new narrative, art and dialogue directions, etc, which I, too, do not like as much as I did the original Life is Stange and Life ist Strange: Before the Storm, but not outright hate as much as you do, I can well imagine that LiS 2 Arcadia Bay would have tarnished the fond memories we have of the first two installments (and, for me, also Captain Spirit) and especially of Max and Chloe.
Or, to say it in Star Wars terms, when I was a kid, Return of the Jedi was the letdown in an otherwise awesome trilogy. Today A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back are the highpoints in an otherwise utterly mediocre series of schlock that nowhere near holds this special place in my heart that the original trilogy once held. I'd rather not see that happen to Arcadia Bay and its citizens.
