I'm sorry you think my post is spam. If I was able to make my point clear in lesser words, I'd done so. But your answer showed me, I was not able to do so even with this lengthly explaination.
It was not my point, if I liked the politics of LIS1 or not. My point is, that Dontnod obviously wanted to tell a political driven story in LIS2. So if they had made a continuation of the first game, it is fair to assume, that the continuation would also have been political driven. My example was just to illustrate, in what way we could have expected a Pricefield game, that had the same political direction we got in LIS2. I never said, that I wanted to see that.
Would be odd, because I only noticed that wikipedia page existed, after I already begun to write the post and was searching for examples of LGBT-violence.
We'll see, what the comcs are worth.
I want more Max and Chloe.
See -this ones easy to pick apart.
"it is fair to assume, that..." - have you heard the old mantra of what happens when you assume?
"the continuation would also have" - er no. Correlation does not equal causation. Just bc the first is one thing doesnt not mean the second will follow the same. Also - see below.
"been politically driven." - The first one wasnt political. At all. Unless you mean the option to make things lesbian in the story? Then the answer is still no. Lesbianism =/= politics. You can twist it to mean that, but when you have the option to make them either friends or relationship, that takes the political right out of the picture. This has been debated b4...
"We'll see, what the comcs are worth." - comics 1 through 4 are out. Go get em and come back here. It was such a success they're extending the story on.....would have made a great game and not taken away either choice from the original game. Very well written.
I didn't make the assumption because of the contents of the first game, but because of the team, that works on the second game. Yes, it might have been, if that team worked on a continuation that the source material would have inspired them to a different kind of game, but it might also have been, that THIS kind of story is the story this team wants to tell and that they just adapt the source material to fit the story they want to tell. We have seen with Rian Johnson and "The last Jedi" how this can go, how a perfectly fine franchise can be ruined, because the story writer wants to tell a perticular kind of story, no matter if fitting to the material, or not.
Glad to hear that, but it doesn't matter in this context, since
- the writer of the comics is not part of this team.
- a comic is a different medium and wil lbe percieved differently.
To underline Prinegones Comment:
How would you implement the choice system?
"Yes, it might have been, if..."
You're trying to change the thrust of your point - and I suppose the next post will be you trying to prove that you didn't - but the point is that the 1st lis wasn't political and I'm not going to get side tracked. And it doesn't matter about the dev team the point is is that just because 1 is 1 way does not mean to 2nd is going to be the same way.
It doesn't matter of the writer of the comics is not part of this team or that the comic is of a different medium and will be perceived differently - that's just a ridiculous straw man argument. The point is we're talking about the story that was written that compares to other stories written.
Stop moving the goalposts.
Read the comics to find out. I'm not going to hold your hand.
All we need Square to do now is take the franchise away from Dontnod because LiS2 is proof that they lack in understanding their own product to create a worthwhile sequel.
That wohn't happen. XD
It's like we tell artists how they have to do their work. We have some infuence but the weel is still in the hands of the crafters. It never works how you seem to imagine it. The balance of listeneing to it's fans and do own stuff is the key. And in most cases listening to your own feeling is better than listening to 10000 opinions one more different than the other.
Dontnod are not artists, at least not any more, they are designers working for a publisher to create an entertainment product and the current one seems to be a disappointment.
They obviously listened only to themselves and look what happened: A franchise in decline, the fanbase seperated. The can´t even keep a somewhat acceptable release schedule running.
Square did not take control of the franchise with LiS1 to have Dontnod tank it.
Yes they listened to what they thought was best. Fresh wind to the teene drama. And a lot seem to enjoy the new games. If you can't then it's fine. Blaming the artists (I prefer the term artist) because YOU don't like their work is YOUR very problem, and not theirs. (I mean the parts of the game wich needed creativity. Not tecnical parts like bugs.) Art is an incredible thing because there are people who like a sertan piece of art and people who don't like it.
There are a lot of artists I don't like but then it is MY taste. I can't say this picture, video, music generally bad because in terms of art there is no real god or bad. It is always your opinion. And your opinion can mean everything and sometimes nothing at all. The more the merrier and in my humble opinon more seem to like this game. ^^
And as I sad before. It is always up to the artist to do something or not.
And you know this how? But more importantly - how much more would the game have been enjoyed had they continued the story of lis in some form?
Looking at the sales numbers / units sold - I'd say the answer speaks for itself.
Always like people that try to point out how one person's opinion is somehow insignificant as you did - but the reality is that the unit sold are vastly lower in comparison - so your attempt at disparaging 1 person's opinion when it is actually many people's opinion I find quite funny......
Edit
No, after much thought I don't consider this in any way as successor or sequel or continuation of lis. Other than the oboi your choices matter and Arcadia Bay is seen to be destroyed/still there, this came has no connections whatsoever to the original story.
Edit2
But wait the whole story isn't out yet - will probly be the next person's itchy fingers wanting to post lol. It's near half done boys - if they was gonna be a connection, if they were going to have a connection, it would have been already in and anything now is just fan service. Might as well have the 2 kids and the hippie drive past Max taking a picture of a tree so that ppl can go look there's 3 connections now it's really connected lol
I can guess the franchise part by
- no press release on sales or anything that indicates a success
- discussions on the content of the episodes dying down within days after release
- people being angry about having to buy the whole game and how full of bugs it was
That the fanbase has been shattered by the direction they chose is obvious.
The release schedule being unacceptable is also evident.
That Dontnod does not want the franchise to fail should be a given.
