Episode 2- Best Ending
I keep getting the ending where Daniel saves Chris, but I'd like to get the ending where Chris leads them to safety. I told Daniel to tell Chris about his powers, but the little ♥♥♥♥ didn't tell him. There must be an earlier choice that affects this. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Yes if you prank Daniel and use certain opportunities to be mean to him, he won't listen to you when you ask him to tell Chris the truth. You must have been a bad big brother if you got Chris killed. Those choices might possibly have carried over from EP1 too so you might have to replay that to get angel Daniel.

I was nice to him and let him do what be wanted, I just told him to be careful and Chris still got hit and he blamed me.

There's an aspect of how much Daniel likes Sean, and is based on caring for Daniel and being nice. Easy ways to tell are how Daniel responds to Sean asking him to use his powers on Mushroom, or when Sean ask Daniel about the map. Generally if Daniel gets snappy with Sean this is the cause. This aspect primarily governs how Daniel responds to Sean and only Sean.

There's also an aspect of Daniel's honesty, which isn't particularly tied to how nice Sean is, but instead tied to Sean modeling lying, stealing, or acting violent. Signs of this are the photo in the cabin, whether Claire says Daniel would be a good influence on Chris or vice versa, how Sean and Daniel talk about cheating at dice (firm response from Sean indicates Daniel is more dishonest), and if Daniel cleans his room. This ultimately determines if Daniel will stop lying to Chris. This primarily governs how Daniel interacts with others, but not Sean. There is a little bug you can exploited to track this... The last journal entry from Sean's journal when you first start Ep2 shows a drawing of Daniel - if it's "pouty boy" you have a Daniel that is honest, if it's "angelic" Daniel, he is dishonest. The bug is that the drawing updates live as you play Ep2 rather than being locked to what Daniel was like when the page happened, so as Daniel crosses from one side to the other of his honesty parameter the drawing will change in the journal. If you return to the Reynold's house with "pouty boy" in that journal page, Daniel and having asked him to stop lying to Chris, he will give the longer response to Sean asking if Daniel set things straight, thus locking in having told the truth, and at the end Chris will be in his backyard.

Then there's if Daniel is encouraged in using his powers. This comes up in quite a few places in Ep2 and none in Ep1. Saving Chris if he believes he has powers is the first place this seriously has consequence. Some choices that encourage power usage also encourage dishonesty and agression (Nick and Cougar are most prevalent).

Finally there are 2 minor differences that aren't as all encompassing: if Daniel swears and if he's religious. These depend on one choice each (the two choices that matter are on either side of the cougar scene and the results are pretty obvious). These two elements don't appear to affect the 3 primary attributes that seem to broadly govern Daniel's behavior.
I admit I copied it from another thread, but I hope this helps you.

I didn't think I was mean to him. Maybe a bit harsh reminding him about the rules. Chris didn't get killed, so it was the next best ending I guess.

I really doubt that Chris got killed by the car. He wasn't hit that hard and the car didn't roll over him. Maybe he broke his arm or leg etc. or got a concussion.

Well you have to remember he's a kid, falling down like 3 steps can seriously hurt them. Plus he didn't seem to be breathing. If he's in a coma, he's pretty much dead already.
They might do a Chloe part 2 and give us the choice of euthanasia for him.

The TL;DR from my wall of text, for getting the ending where Daniel tells Chris is, don't steal in Ep1 ever (including the camping gear), don't kill the cougar and don't prank Nick. There's other things that go into it and you can get away with doing some of this, but following these basic rules give you a ton of overhead on getting an honest Daniel.

Hello everybody, greetings from Germany, i think i managed how to get the best Ending, and indeed it's cute. But there is in my eyes not really a Bad Ending. Those Kids are tragic heros and they are fighting to survive, not to win. Sean never has a real evil way to side or cild hearted (for example, Bad Endings in witcher, there are some wrong ways to decide for gerald). I think they wrote real great struggling kids.
But now, i changed the following things in the last Version, that brought me to a gorgeous little brother

I put money in the drug money jar
I didnt steal the choco crisp
(of course, superbrother in the wood etc)
I argued with the maga stamper, even in chains
I fled immeadetly
I told daniel, dad died by accident, aka gets shot (honest Version)
(superbro in motel of course)
I threw snowball fair
I said not to swear
I said no cheating AND he won the game (the result Was sooo cute)
He didnt kill the cougar.

Of course i bought a gift at xmas market.
U will have enough money even if u put money in the jar (if coz after being honest to your dad). The clue is talking to the shop owners... I think don't Steal at the market! Senior diaz would not like that.

In my feeling it is essentiall to be real the dad person, real following in the big steps of this awesome dad. To struggle with that Burden and do it nevertheless.

Now im at the end of three and im so helpless, because my moral compass says so, but iveca crush on someone and im pissed about the whole unfait Situation... Oh, its awesome that it gets more and more tricky

Best

I had the outcome where Daniel saves Chris and honestly, I feel like the rules on powers hits home harder when he realises his carelessness almost killed his friend. But I doubt he'll remember it in future.

From Ep 1....essentially steal NOTHING. Not even the choco crisp in the car.
From Ep 2...basically I never prevented him from using his powers. In fact I took every opportunity in which to let him use them. That includes every time available to do so while in the house...straighten the picture, fix the ship in the bottle, let him stack the dishes et al. Even pulled the prank on Nick. There were two exceptions to this:
I didn't let him cheat at the dice game...i.e. called him out. And I didn't let him kill the cougar.

You have to tell him to stop lying to Chris.

It also seems important to not do stuff like throwing a snowball at him. (He does ask you not to do so after all.) In short, be "nice" pretty much every time.

How the heck do you do that??! I started thinking you couldn't actually do that because I only saw the option once and never again, even on my multiple playthroughs, I've only seen the option once so are you suppose to look for signs that he's cheating or something?
julian.varanel Jul 12, 2019 @ 8:16am
There will be a point during the game in which he'll use his powers on the dice to give you a crappy roll. When you see him do that, you have to look up at him. You should be given an option to call him out at that point. I honestly can't recall if it's one of those timed choices or not. But I've had the option every time I've played through that sequence. I don't think this is the ONLY thing that matters, but I do think it's important.

Which brings up something: putting these types of incidents in the game...similar to siding with Cassidy during the weed trimming sequence...having these types of seemingly minor, even incidental events, have a possibly major impact. I'm not sure if that's genius or merely annoying. Or both.

I got the ending where Daniel saves Chris.
