Seriously, if you thought the LIS franchise is about a teen lesbo-romance show, than it shows how ignorant you are, and really much of the fanbase thought it was this. Luckily its the vocal minority, as the silent majority actually like this game.

LIS 2 didn't need to be like the first game outside the franchises core themes, which were strange superpowers, exploration of relationships, and tackling difficult topics. And really, LIS2 is far better written than its predecessor, and far more brave as well. While the original has better gameplay, play spaces, and puzzles, LIS 2 has a far better script, is less reliant on outside influences, and blows the original away when it comes to choice and consequence. LIS 2 is far more consistent than you think when it comes to its story, especially in how it weaves its themes.

LIS is masterpiece, but some first game fans want to ignore its flaws while bashing LIS 2 for the same perceived flaws. And people think the first game wasn't political? Wow. Nevermind that the game completely criticizes the health care system of the US or class issues in the town. And in fact LIS 2 doesn't even paint conservative America with a broad brush, but features friendly conservative characters who help the boys. And it doesn't trash law enforcement as well, and shows both sides of the debate, and actually paints the cop that shot Esteban in a sympathetic light. And LIS 2 follows through in its difficult subject matter more so than the original, which pulled its punches on the topic of sexual assault.

And the theme of the debate of whether leave the problems of home behind and start anew is done masterfully here, and shows both sides have valid points.

It seems that this story is too thematically complex for some fans, makes them scratch their heads on where the story is going or why characters do things they do, or why the character has importance in the story. I see it here. Sorry, but LIS 2 is a masterpiece too.

And if you want more Max and Chloe read the comics. I fyou want it to be more like the first game, too bad. Its all about evolving, unless you want DONTNOD (Deck Nine or the franchise) to become like Telltale and Bioware. Sometimes you find success on a follow by not repeating what made you successful the first time, and when you find success that way, you are better for it.

This game shows who the true fans are, the ones that accept changes, differences, and deviation from what they liked the first time around. The ones that aren't, whine and complain. And if DONTNOD/SE/whatever listens to the latter, expect the death of this franchise.

While I very much love and appreciate Life is Strange 2, I feel like the original poster here was too harsh about Life is Strange 1.

Both games are great. There are ways in which LiS2 improved on LiS1, and there are also some features that were lost. I recognize not everyone is going to like LiS2 or connect with it better than they did with LiS1. I did, but not everyone will, and that's okay.

That is a good post yes.. I feel weird, because I actually like BtS the most. Its a matter of what you seek in the story and what you value most.

All of them have been worth the cash from my perspective. I can't say about their new project however, but time will tell.

I love the first game, but it isn't perfect and I think that those who bash LIS 2 are hypocritical about the first game's flaws.

I do find fault in the script writing of the early episodes, especially the first, and I do find fault in the bad guy. I also conceded the first had better gameplay than LIS 2 as well.
