When i heard Jacobs story at the campfire, i knew he would play a more important part in EP4.
Possible. And maybe we will meet Derek too, who made the call^^
However, the fact that Karen's church is apparently near Las Vegas, Nevada speaks against it. Beaver Creek, Oregon is roughly 1000 km away. Why would they call any people there?
Jacob was also a side character like Cassie was in episode 2. I bet the story want to spare the interesting parts of Jacob for episode 4.
An interesting theory wich makes sense. It even can be taken further because the case about the death of Emily Ericson (Chris' mother) is still not solved. I bet it was Karen and she has the same power as Daniel. Maybe Karen tried to get in touch with her pearents after 6 years absence. (She left Sean and the rest in 2008because she thought it was too dangerous but came back to her parents house after 6 years in 2014, the year were Emily died) But she lost it for some reason. She didn't make it to her parents and after she saw that she killed Emily she ran again. To Nevada were she seached for piece and quiet.
Karen reminds me somehow of Nathan from S1. Pictured like the bad person who ruined everything. But in the end they just were part of somehting bigger. This time it is not a mad photographer who takes studens hostage and taking pictures of them. This time the power itself is the big antragonist. Think about it. The only time the power saved someone was when Daniel saved Chris and that was it. Yes it was the same with Max kind of but the trail of death is there no matter what you do. The power saves but also kills people.
Claire is more of a traditional Christian. If Karen has joined any sect, that might explain her dislike. But I don't think that's the only reason her whole family hates her.
There must be more to it than that. She has done something worse than joining a sect. Maybe it's just a result of that.
The only one who showed some understanding was Stephen. He said that he couldn't approve of what she had done, but that he would understand. So there must be more behind it.
I'm not convinced that this female Reverend is Karen either. But the fact that Jacob explicitly mentioned that this Reverend is female gives this detail some meaning and relevance, in my opinion. So I think it's quite conceivable that they deliberately included this detail.
At any rate - Grandpa says he, after Sean sees the picture in his workshop-like room, that he thinks he understand why she did what she did. That sort of throws things up in the air a little.
If grandpa going to like any reason for totally cutting off your kids? (it's not like anyone legally could stop her, courts ALWAYS side with Mom, especially when one kid is REALLY young at the time - she either chose to be out of their life or gave up REALLY easy)
Makes you wonder...
interesting theory. there's the added wrinkle in Emily's death where it sounds like the police were covering it (or parts of it) up. I'd kind of like to see Emily dealt with via a separate effort (like a BtS side game) centered around Chris and Charles. but if it's addressed here that could work too.
Yeah, I must say this theory sounds intriguing.
I'm not 100% sure about Karen being that reverend (but then again, Jacob stresses that this reverend is a woman) but I'm 100% sure she herself has some fancy powers of her own. The Roman-Catholic Church is most prevalent in Mexiko (they reject female ordination) while Protestant is most widespread in Washington. Maybe religion is a separating line in their family?
We don't even know whether Esteban knew of said powers or what caused they Diaz and Reynolds become estranged.
Edit: There is an achievement called "She Wolf" depicting it feeding 2 kids (like Romulus and Remus) - that cannot be coincidental. Maye Sean finds some kind of power too?[\spoiler]
Maybe Emily told about how the Raynolds acted out over rules and that is why Charles thinks bad about them. Karen told Emily and Emily told her husband.
I really hope that Emily's death will still play a role and that in the end everything is somehow connected. This whole story, with the surveillance tapes being held back by someone. It was all too suspicious to be unimportant. And it was always said that you could find some clues to the plot of LiS 2 in the Captain Spirit episode.
But I somehow don't believe that Karen also has a power like Daniel. I don't know why, but that doesn't sound like a good idea for this story to me. We'll see.

There could maybe a religious theme and connection when you look on these Steam achievements for Episode 4.
Yes, i already mentioned it in my initial post and this was discussed before. That's one of the main things why people think Karen could live in a religious community and that we will meet her in episode 4.
