has this game improved on any of my points?
Has the paced picked up? I think each esposiode has felt more rushed then the last
Is the soundtrack on point?
I also know some have been rather upset with some of the song. Honestly, I have enjoyed the sound track but maybe I am just odd.
Is there a reason to get emotionally involved? Its all about your relationship with Daniel as a brother and care giver and if your not into in that, well your going to like this game about just is much as if you hated Chloe (Not that anyone actually hated Chloe that we know if, it is, at least in theory, possible ;))
Does Sean find out if he has powers? not yet but it keeps coming up so they are foreshadowing it.
Will Daniel ever be able to get over the loss of his pup? Nope.
Will their lives ever be the same? Nope.
Episode 3 is better than both, but only because it kind of introduced season 1-like gameplay with a fixed place and a cast you can get to know.
Pacing: I feel it is still slow, but at least something happenend in ep3
Musik: Still not on the level of BtS or LiS1
Emotional Involment: Simply not there - I loved the first one and BtS and usually can get into a story but so far nothing in this game "clicked" I just do not care for them, not even after three episodes.
Right now I don´t think you are missing out on much currently, a central complaint is that this does not feel like a Life is Strange game and I agree.
Thanks again for the truthful replies and hopefully they will be able to turn LiS2 and get everyone on board!
Yeah, this forum isn't the best place for people who want to critique a game, but whether what you say is good or "bad" it's all still a valid opinion so don't worry about annoying others.
We'll just have to wait and see how this ends.
Sorry to be so blunt but its easier that way
Life is Strange 1 felt organic while Life is Strange 2 feels hamfisted with political nonsense
When I play a game I don't play it to learn about the Devs political opinions
Life is Strange 1 dealt with issues without pandering to either side of the coin while Life is Strange 2 does the exact opposite
There's too much to critique in this game, I suppose we can hope it improves in the next 2 episodes but I still don't think it'll be enough for me to actually care about any of the characters.
That's fair. The game is paced slowly and its also paced a bit oddly. Its sort of inverse of LiS. In Lis you can also undo choices quickly, in an effort to make it harder to that, A lot of choices have more of a multi-episode delay vs immediate impact. I'll put it this way, I didn't replay the game once until after eps three because I had no desire to and the result was impressive in my opinion, but is it it worth the long road? Its hard to say yet but it might be
I mean the original was also somewhat slow paced in a lot of areas, but it was a good type of slow pace you enjoy and interact with characters and build on relationships, which I think is this games biggest downfall.
In the slow moments of LIS2, instead of character interaction and building relationships, you have one character to interact with which is Daniel (lets be honest interacting with a 9 year old isn't all that fun 24/7) and any other characters have very very short relationships and really nothing to build on. I think most of the fanbase of LIS2 would have LOVED to have lyla accompany us on the journey, hell even going to the party in ep one would've been a bit more entertaining than just walking... doing chores with seemingly no interactions inbetween is just boring. (LIS getting ready in the morning is quite an interactive journey in itself, and it's fun and relaxing)
Both games are slow paced, but LIS2 does a poor job at making the slow paced areas enjoyable which they should be. Being slow paced means relaxing, not being bored.
Gotcha.
Yah it is a questionable choice to do each episode you are in a very different environment. It add an crazy amount of work that could have otherwise gone to something really cool like more dynamic and open game play and adding more people to the party like Lyla. They could have been set in all woods and maybe they hike to Canada or something idk. So it has real drawbacks but is also has been cool see all of that art work
. Its possible that they hope to not waste all of that work and maybe we are like visiting the different settings of future possible games. Or maybe not.
But since they did maybe it was just too much work to do something like adding Lyla from the start of the game and have the level of complexity to the learned behaviors and AI all while doing 5 full games worth of assets.
It is cool to realize just how much you can actually impact Daniels behavior and demeanor in huge and subtle ways and how you can develop strategic to get him to do cretin specific things in game. Yah its limited and no you can't somehow escape the plot of the game
Personally I have enjoyed the exploring and meetings lots of unique characters but its a highly subjective thing and so I don't think your wrong to think its boring.
Though, the amount of time between episodes is just too long, and is the main reason Im not as attached to this season as I was the 1st season.
So, in a word: no.
Yes, it's a small sample size.
No one here is trying to correlate that this is a general percentage IRL - although it does seem a coincidence that the numbers are playing out that way.
It feels like even some of those that kinda like it, have issues with it, and that's a telling thing. No, not every game is perfect - before someone helpfully jumps in to point that out - but the topic was and is, has it gotten better?
Doesn't seem so.
I would love to be proven 100% wrong in my opinion the next 2 episodes, but from the storyline / plot - it doesn't seem so. Althoguh you're opinion that the game is fine/great/excellent is valid too - it seems in general even ppl that like the game are posting things they wish were better....
