I could be wrong, but i think this topic is not yet over. And Daniel mentioned Chris several times in episode 3.
though I've got to believe they have some other plans for him outside of this game, they created an awful lot of backstory and left a lot of open-ended details for Captain Spirit that go beyond his role so far in LiS2. especially the references to Blackwell and call-backs to the first game.
I highly doubt Chris will appear in the next episodes
Even if Daniel or someone else mention Chris It won't affect the plot too much, 'cause he has zero revelance in the LiS 2 plot. Why I say that? https://venturebeat.com/2019/05/24/why-life-is-strange-2-writers-ratcheted-up-the-drama-in-episode-3/
In this interview, one of the devs talks about how Lyla was planned to be never brought back again after ep. 1, and thanks to the audience reaction you can call her in ep.2, but her role Is done, you'll never see her again in the future episodes.
That's quite disappointing for me, i can understand why Lyla was not so relevant (even if i would have liked more about her) but with all those details and background in Captain Spirit i thought he was going to have some little more prominence in the actual story
The story as a whole was not relevant.
no but I assume (hope) we at least find out what happened to him after ep.2.
I'm not sure I see how. Maybe the writers were being intentionally vague, but I get the idea that the Eriksens and Reynolds didn't even know each other prior to Charles and Chris having to move next door to them. Presumably Karen would have been gone for years by that point, well out of the state, and I don't see how they'd intersect.
I don't see it as an issue. This game is about Sean and Daniel, period. Just like the first one was about Max & Chloe. focusing more on Chris's story (unless they managed to make it relevant to S&D's journey) would be a distraction and kind of pointless. If they do anything more with Chris it would probably be better done as something like an add-on to Captain Spirit, or another side game like BtS, or even LiS 3 (if there is to be one.) 'cos there's a lot there to work with IMO: What really happened to Emily? Why was her death never solved? Why does it seem like it's being covered up? What do the references to Blackwell and Mark Jefferson mean (if anything?) edit: oh, and can't the world be nice to this poor kid for once? ;)
I know about Lyla and the interview. I was of course disappointed. But that doesn't mean, that Chris's backstory won't be important in any way. I don't think we will see him again, but probably there will be some kind of twist regarding Karen and her past. The reason why she left and why everyone hates her. And i believe it must be something the player as well as Sean and Daniel had already contact with throughout the game.
Of course it could be very much the case, that Chris's story is over and he was only there to interact with Daniel. But that's the thing. We don't know yet. And after the end of episode 3, i believe the old rules no longer apply^^
