The voice actors of LIS 2 answer questions
The voice actors Gonzalo Martin (voice of Sean Diaz) and Roman George (the voice of Daniel Diaz) were for a "Ask Anything You Want" with questions from fans of Life is Strange at PAX West 2019. Of the hardest scenes to play up to their favorite chocolate.

I'm sorry, but Daniel does not make me more sympathetic when I see his speaker. He does not play, he is Daniel.

Even the views are down, yikes.
I dont mind them though, they seem like decent people, hopefully they'll move on to bigger and better things.

Was afraid to see it exactly for this reason. But more often than not, when VAs their age aren't good, it's because they are not directed well enough. Not anyone is born a prodigy who can build a role with a snap of their fingers. Some people can be amazing but they need direction.

Like Kaliliyah I'm sure they are decent deep down and I hope they will find themselves doing better projects in the future.

I now know what I dislike about Daniel in the game the most. His way of speaking. He wants to sound important if he uses his power, or wants to enforce his will. That sounds extremely contrived in my ears.
When I hear Chris's voice in comparison, it's always a kid. Even if he plays a superhero.

Good point. I try not to compare the two but Chris does sound like a kid (and reacts like a real 9-10 years-old despite his situation... well maybe a bit younger when I see him still playing make-believe but well, not younger than 8 at most haha) !

You realize Chris is portraying an abused kid, right?

My point is not about the characters Daniel and Chris, but about the way the speakers act. So you can ignore the content of the story.

Oh okay, thanks for clarifying :)

oh I'm sorry, I forgot no one is allowed to disagree with you.

I'll leave you all to the circle jerk you seem to want this place to be.

Would you please STOP making my thread a controversial topic? I wrote that this is ONLY about the speakers and how they play their part.
If you want to discuss your topic, open your own thread. Thanks.

I felt the same from an earlier interview, but since he is younger and a real person, and not a character created to entertain, I will try to not hold it against him.

Gonzalo is interesting, they should have stopped him from constantly switching to whiny-mode for Sean, would have made him more bearable.

A thing I'm curious about: Were the VAs in the same booth to do the recording or apart? Having actors react to each other really helps.

I heard they were recording together for the walking down the roads part in episode 1 to make it sound more realistic. I think they were separate till then. That could've changed now though.

They sometimes will have the playback of the other actor's/actors' voice/voices playing over the headphones so they react with the proper timing. It all depends on the studio and how they decide to direct them. Disney does their voiceover work in multiple formats, for example, mostly depending on the ages of the VA actors. If you get to see the Blu-Ray version of Monsters Inc., for example, nearly every one of Boo's lines were done completely separately from everything else, given that the child was only about three or so at the time, and they took hours to get the sounds and few actual lines she delivered. Hair-pulling-out-time, for sure.

I find the whole VA thing to be more interesting than the movies/TV shows/games themselves, a lot of the times. All I know is that it takes quite a lot of work, and I admire the people who work in that part of the industry. They have much more patience than I do.
