What happened to multiplayer in this game?

Today I went on to play JSAB again after barely touching it for over a year now. Entered multiplayer, played for 30-40 minutes, and never got a full lobby. In the end I left because there was literally no one else there. I even tried hardcore mode afterwards, but only found a single dude with hald a million points playing it.

I hope this was just caused by the time I entered, but, if not, then wth happened and when did it become so empty???

Do you know if it’s cross play? I played it on Switch all the time and always managed to join games but haven’t played it in a year.

I was considering this on Steam but want to know if this game has good mods or allows more stages to play that others have made?

Yes, it is cross play. However, the game does not have directly accessible user generated content (mods, levels, etc.)
