ROM: Extraction
is it a wave shooter ?
As the title say, does this game is a wave shooter or not ? The description and the short teaser video doesn't say much.

I hope the game feature some kind of real single player campaign where the player has to move like in classic FPS games. I don't want any more wave shooter for VR.

We consider ROM: Extraction to be a round-based game, where players can play a short round or try multiple difficulties dedicating more time--it's up to them to play at their own pace. We leave it up to the player to decide what kind of time commitment they want to spend in the game. Every round played, the player's skill level will increase noticeably. It's a round-based game, not a wave shooter because we feel this type of gameplay suits today's VR better.

Can you explain what is a round based game ? For me, Round based game and wave shooter are the same.

To make it more simple are we able to move in the environment or are we fix to a location like Serious sam etc... ? :)

ROM: Extraction has rounds of play--not an endless wave progression of enemies. Instead of difficulty progression, you have an option of 3 different modes of difficulty, each with its own leaderboard. You'll be under attack and battling against intelligent AI that behave differently every time you play--they can run from you, hide from you, and flank you. Your score will depend on how well you do in a set amount of time, in your set difficulty mode. The gameplay happens in a fixed location of an environment: the Orb Extraction Chamber.

Oh noooo, not the Orb Extraction Chamber!!!!!

Not to discredit the developers work, but I'm in the same boat... I think wave shooters have the capacity to be the death of VR... I haven't used my Vive in a while because of the lack of unique titles
