Secret Ending

I've finished the game today and from what I thought it was a shocking ending, I knew there was more to it. I discovered there is a secret ending trophy in the achievement list, which means that my theory is that 'Mother' can be killed and thus the secret ending. I've search over the net seems that no one has ever discovered it yet.

I think 'Mother' can be killed by:

1. Obtain the chainsaw from the sewer lab.
2. Upgrade it to max and keep the chainsaw til the end.
3. Obtain the time machine item slot located in the final stage.
4. After defeating Brother Romulus, proceed meeting Mother.
5. End of conversation with Mother, she will gave a 5 second lifespan.
6. During this 5 second period, activate and spam the time machine item slot.
7. Chainsaw her to death.

Anyone tried yet ?

There is a little problem with your theory. When you use the time machine your fire rate decreases too. It happens with every single weapon I've tried, so, it should be that way too with the chainsaw.

What I'm trying to say is that you may not have to use the time machine to prove your theory. It could help, but doesn't seem mandatory if you ask me ^^.

I bought the game game on GoG and finished the game without any patches so idk if things changed but here are my experiences: (Oh also finished it solo idk about MP)

The Problem with the time tool is that even when i picked it up it reverted to my previous tool when i entered Mother's room (spy in my case => hacking tool)
One of my other characters was the scientiest (I kept her default time tool on her) so I tried switching to her before entering the room and it defaulted me to the spy which was the first character I chose so basically my primary char.

However I managed to kill Mother with the chaingun/minigun, fully upgraded, without the need for any tools or special tricks

Which weapon is the chaingun/minigun? do you refer to a default weapon of some character or one that you pick up somewhere?

Your first guess was right, it's the secret weapon you can pick up in the biolab. The way tot get it was a bit lame, it didn't involve any pressure plates or breakable walls like usually with the secrets in this game - instead you have move over an invisble telporter area. It was in a corner with a green glow not too far away from where you can spot the minigun.

Finished the secret ending. I used the fully upgraded chainsaw. No need the time machine or any special slot. But I got one more question.

Any leads on how to access the Lost Content floor? According to the fortune teller, she predicts that there is super weapon. How to access that floor?

I suspect this is a reference to the stretch goals that weren't met during kickstarter campaign; but, of course, this is just my guess...maybe there is some secret around there.. .who knows :)

oh yeah that's right.. probably a downloadable content soon.. i think the Devs put a funny acronym for DLC.

Guys, I tried the fully upgraded chainsaw thing and it is not working for me. I tried like 4 or 5 times and it is not working. I load game whenever I try to kill her but I can't.

I'm playing this playthrough on easy just because I wanted to see the secret ending. Could it be that there is no secret ending if you play the game on easy? Do you guys got the ending playing on normal or hard?

I don't know how anyone managed to get it with the chainsaw, because it didn't work for me either. For god's sake it's just dashing into her and holding the button down.

Try getting the minigun instead.

This is the ending after killing mother. Look i'm holding a chainsaw. But i played it on normal difficulty though.

Worked for you, but no idea how.
2 out of 3 people couldn't confirm it works, therefore it's not a reliable way of killing mother.
