Smashbox Arena

Running Smashbox on Gen 11/12 Intel controllers (crashes on launch+solution)
SBA crashes on launch with new Intel P/E core chips. After doing a few tests and research the problem seems to be in an OpenSSL library used. Solution is to add the following to the steam launch options (right click on Smashbox Arena in your library, go to launch options):

cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%"

You can add any other options for SBA after the %command% and before the " (like -noai).

Better solution with no hiccup/pauses: take back out the steam command line, instead use the following suggestion. Bring up a command prompt, type "setx OPENSSL_ia32cap :~0x20000000", hit return. This will set a permanent environment variable. You will need to restart your computer for it to take effect. This prevents the priority/lag issues from the command window that pops up from Steam and it works fine for me. Remember to keep any of your game specific flags in place. Hello Marvin42, thank you very much for posting these. I tried the second version and had an error message, Then I went to the reddit reference in your first post and added the environment variable and it worked! I could play Smash Box Arena again.
Now if I can get more players to play.

Glad it helped, there are regular players usually at 1pm eastern on weekdays and usually 11am-1pm eastern on weekends. Be sure to check both East and Europe servers.
