I was having a similar issue. Ping in the 400-600 range tonight, yet I have 1gig fiber in the midwest. I believe that changing my wifi adapter to N only will fix it based on this: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/14278688390 I will try it and play again later to see if it fixes my issue. Hopefully it will fix your issue as well.

Well, I've tried everything I can think of and my ping fluctuates between 54 and 700+ rapidly. I've checked my ping against the DOTA 2 the League of Legends servers. Both of those show my ping with an average of 34 (ping iad.valve.east -t) and 14 (ping ping 104.160.131.1 -t) respectively.

Using Century Link in Minneapolis. i5-6500 1080 win10 16gb. Using a Realtek RTL8811AU USB Wi-Fi adapter. I've tried everything I've found online related to fixing high pings, and they helped me get my ping super low for DOTA 2 and LoL, but not Smashbox. :(

Devs, do you have any ideas for why our ping would be so low? The game is unplayable in multiplayer for me right now.

I'm guessing you're seeing latency due to wireless interference. I'd suggest you try using an ethernet cable and see if that fixes your issue. We see this type of latency issues often with wireless.

This is the issue: http://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/3/357285398694122872/

It is an issue with SteamVR. Devs, if you have any sway, please help push for a fix. :)

SOLVED: The issue was Revive. I was running 1.0.4 and when I uninstalled it, the latency spike completely went away.

This is reproducable. By reinstalling Revive 1.0.4 the latency came back when running Steam VR. Quit SteamVR, uninstall Revive 1.0.4, restart SteamVR and no latency spikes.

It's a shame because Revive is fantastic software. I hope the issue can be resolved!

Further analysis shows that this issue happens when you've added ANY dashboard item to SteamVR (Vive Home, Advanced Settings, Revive) in tandem with using WiFi. It will result in lag spikes every 8 seconds. This has been shared with Steam devs via the appropriate forums.
