Act 5 Spell Squad Monster Fight Skip?

In the developer commentary, Greg says that you can get past this part without participating, but I can't figure out how! I've tried simply waiting, both in and out of the arena, tried to get out on the left side, I've tried going back to Miriam, tried singing every song I know, tried getting hit a bunch, tried getting the spell squad hit a bunch, nothing progresses the fight one way or another other than charging their attacks. Am I missing something or is the commentary wrong?

I figured it out! Apparently you have to get hit out of the fight by jumping near the edge of the arena just before the monster attacks, and PRAY. I tried this a lot before posting, but it hadn't worked until just now, a half hour afterwards. Go figure.

I recommend you go try this yourself since this is probably some of the rarest dialogue in the game!

Oh. Even though I got new dialogue from Miriam, nothing has changed. Additionally, there is still a prompt to talk to Miriam but when you press it it doesn't do anything, so I guess this is a bug? Oof.

Yeah I'm beginning to believe that if there ever was a way to do it in development, it's not functional in the final product.

Interestingly, this is also the only area of the game that really relies on color. I've always thought that you just need to keep singing away the little creatures and be patient in order to progress.

Now, I've checked the file where all the dialogue is, and I can't figure out what line(s) by Miriam you're seeing that I haven't already seen. If you don't mind taking a screenshot (or better yet, a video) of what you saw, I'd love to see it.

Ah yes, I know that piece of dialogue. I don't even think you have to get knocked out of the battle area to see that dialogue. I once saw someone do it just by witnessing the monster and then turning back and talking to Miriam.
