Of course you can play the game as a native. Just put on some tribal wear, get a bow and arrow propped next to your chair, and start up the computer.

Because they likely share base code with every other nation, including having tags and tag switching. There is little reason for the devs to remove working code that might be important later. Tag switching is a debug tool.
