That line is your Sniper's core which cannot be changed normally. You can change the obj_perk_marksman with the other class' core such as obj_perk_riotguard for Riot Guard, obj_perk_breacher for Breacher, obj_perk_assassin for Assassin, obj_perk_raider for Raider, obj_perk_assaultgunner for Heavy Gunner, obj_perk_engineer for Engineer, or obj_perk_demolisher for Demolisher.
This way you will no longer have your drone (unless you've changed into Engineer's core) and you will be missing some of your class talents but this should solve your issue, albeit in an unorthodox way.
Nope, drone still getting me killed. Would it be possible to just have the drone fire when we fire
...and that awful conveyor level is probably still in there as well eh?
Don't you love it when devs fix things that aren't broken, add things that aren't wanted, remove things that people like, and then don't renege on it? Yeah no thanks.
In the devs defense, they did change the conveyor stage for the better to where I can now consistently beat it on 200% difficulty without much of the original idea for the stage getting modified. For your other points I can agree that there is way too much automation that is out of the player's control for a class as sensitive as the sniper. What I end up having to do is just sell off all my auto fire items as soon as I get them, but I still have to deal with the drone ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my perfectly planned shots before I can fire. What I do to try to combat that situation is heavily utilize the smoke grenade and decoy spawns if you have them or just get overwhelmed and die do to the drone aggroing most of the map.
Perfectly planned shots? Do you make sure you properly calculate the fluctuation of the air when making your shots or what?
And how far away do you usually stand away from the enemies, while planning your "perfect" shots? Half a screen? Quarter? There's a number of enemies with an aggro range of roughly the entire screen, some even have higher. If you still take 10 hours to aim despite that you should EXPECT enemies to notice you. If you can't aim and shoot in 2-3 seconds you probably should think about switching class.
(In case you don't know, the drone only shoots when there is an enemy aggro'd.)
"die do to the drone aggroing most of the map. "
Exaggeration. If anything it will trigger one group, unless you play very very very wrong and somehow manage to get in-between multiple groups at once.
And what is with this thing that people act like drawing aggro on sniper is equal to death? How about you just keep shooting them while they are moving? Can't be that hard.
Your post basically screams "I am bad at sniper but I am not because I blame this game for being unfair and the drone being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ instead."
Git gud
God I hate people who are just too lazy to learn the game and instead complain.
I take about 2-3 seconds to line up most headshots after scanning for enemies on the edge of my screen because with the limited ammo for most sniping guns, I try to make every shot count. I've also been trying to beat the sniper class on the 200% minimum difficulty and can usually make it to the final boss area before the second room kills me. I've already beaten the game with most of the other classes on that difficulty and only classes i have left are the sniper, heavy gunner, and the demo.
In regards to the drone aggroing most of the map, yea that might have been a small exaggeration, but multiple times I spawn into a new floor only for the drone to immediately fire a shot that ends up aggroing an elite group of those hovercraft bots that fire the stunning shot, who then proceed to stun lock me which ultimately ends the run even with ideal equipment. This all starts to happen even before the screen finishes loading after teleporting into the new map.
Based off of your condescending tone I get the impression that you think that everyone has to rush through the game. Seeing as how the sniper is one of the weaker classes health and defense wise, I rather take my time and set up the battlefield to the best of my abilities and not rush into battle like the other classes.
I suggest you let go of that hate you have because not everyone has the time to spend to become an "ultra god gamer" like you. Its also not worth it over a game.
That being said it still doesn't change the fact that things acting automatically for the sniper is still a bad idea imo.
To the thread OP, if you're still having trouble remember to try to utilize the starting items in different ways. You might find starting combos that work for you that you didn't think would previously. Also maybe consider before every gunfight spawn in a decoy then take your shot so that most of enemies hopefully aggro onto the decoy while you take pot shots from your hiding spot. Also if RNG is good to you maybe consider having one good full auto gun that will last you to the final boss along with another gun of your choice because once you reach the final area it can get pretty hectic before and during the boss fight. Hope my advice is helpful for you or anyone else reading this.
Still, you can't just blame the drone for most of your deaths. Having the drone draw unwanted aggro usually shows problems in other places which is what I meant.
"multiple times I spawn into a new floor only for the drone to immediately fire a shot that ends up aggroing an elite group of those hovercraft bots" That possibility does exist but it should be very rare. If that really happened multiple times you were extremely unlucky. Still, those gliders only shoot after they took damage + you are immune to damage for a short while after spawning. In other words, you get time to act/react even if that happens.
"sniper is one of the weaker classes health and defense wise"
You might be happy to hear that the opposite is the case. Sniper gets 3 max shield per headshot kill. If you're good and with a little luck you can hit 800 by the first boss which is the same starting shield as other classes. This + the dodge from his talents and the 2 modules makes him the class which can eat the most damage before actually losing health. This gets made worse by the smoke nade which effectively doubles this. Or in short: sniper is among the tankiest.
Tldr: you really can't blame the drone for your deaths.
As for what I said about basically getting killed before the screen fully loads, that was 1 of the recent examples of that happening. That event has happened at least 3 other times that I can remember off the top of my head. Before it has happened with the red androids with the "sneezing" 1-shot gun, and another time it happened in the earlier stages where I got overwhelmed and just couldnt get to cover before I was gunned down from multiple directions.
I also see what you were talking about with being faster with firing. Ive been watching youtube vids of others playing sniper on max difficulty and they get through no problem even with mostly using sniper rifles. I should spend less time on getting headshots and just get the damn kills.
I hope everyone can understand that I really do love this game, but currently there are many issues that are hard to ignore. If the devs truly believe that the sniper drone is behaving as intended then Ill stfu and never mention it again.
