Why is this game so popular?

I remember playing synthetik before, not this one but the other game that isnt online, now the game didnt feel stellar to me, didnt the animations were a bit off and so was the gameplay in general. Why is this so popular?

Sseth brought it to my attention. It's one of the only rogue-lites that I can stand to play. The community is cool too. It has weeb references, a cyberpunk grim almost vapor type aesthetic, a huge selection of weapons and items to combo. It's great.

game is good as it does not repeat too much same things, every run is bit different from other so it is not always guaranteed that you have easy run trough, which keeps it interesting.

Not enough credit goes to the sound design. The guns all sound amazing and firing them feels very satisfying. Other top down shooters are always going for whacky stuff. Synthetik feels like something from the future.
