I also kinda realise how I could've pushed towards Eye of Terror earlier by listening to you guys, in the same way a Tech Adept uses his constructs, I use my Crusader's turrets almost like pets to draw fire, investing in the Critical Hits tree for all the Focus-on-Crit buffs to sustain it, a very steady-wins-the-race build.
Having been playing on Eye of Terror just as OP did for a bit, I reached the Crimson Wanderer mission for the Dark Eldar story...and both his damage and health seemed extreme low at that difficulty.
- Slow turning speed
- Limited firing arc for all weapons
- Melee enemies surrounding you
- Crushing enemies underfoot only works for enemies in front of you
Killing them off is annoying. Letting them live means letting them chip away your health.
I see two solutions. The first is to give some weapon that will clean them up automatically. Maybe give that automatic bolter a 360 degree firing arc or give walking an AOE effect. That way we can ignore weak enemies that get that close.
The other option is some ability that sets off an AOE centered on the Wanderer to blast them. So we have an "I'm surrounded" button.
1st - Give that poor bastard some better hp, not this piss poor 80k. Add a 0 to that or something.
2nd - Massively buff its auto repair so it doesn't take half an hour to repair itself outside of combat.
3rd - Massively buff its void shield's hp (also add a 0) and make it offer 360 degree protection instead of this stupid 180. The Crimson Wanderer does not turn fast enough for that.
4th - This is actually important, Significantly increase its attack range. There is no way in hell a random infantryman should have better range and accuracy than a legendary imperial warmachine.
5th - This is a hack n' slash game so yeah give the Wanderer a small speed buff to walk and turn speed.
The fact that this legendary defender of the Imperium feels so weak and pathetic is pure heresy and the designer should be stuck into a Mortifier for this sin. The Emperor Protects...
That you are forced to play these missions in single player is just the cherry on top, because that means I need to play them 2 times, because my wife HATES them so much she refuses to play this absolute garbage.
Developer: Just patch that thing ridicilous strong, as the previous poster suggested, so that you can just wander through these missions.
Just play them on a Low Difficulty and they are easy. You only need to do a few of these and once you finish the Campaign you can Skip it all together with New Characters.
Agreed, but its to late to make any changes. They are moving on to a new project, so they are not going to make any major changes to the Game at this point. The only option is to find a way that you can deal with it, or just not play.
personally, while i wouldnt play general campaign missions on normal as that would be just too easy (somewhat immersion breaking) - having finished the campaign i agree that you should not pick too high of a level and struggle/prolong the campaign as it is not worth it in the long run.
also - run crimson wanderer missions at normal since you dont even get any loot there and paper enemies actually make sense lore-wise in this context.
i think those missions are a decent piece of storytelling and fit well with the campaign, they just dont lend themselves at all to the difficulty scaling
I liked how they tried something new with the Crimson Wanderer, and that one where you get a Tank, but it just didnt really work as well as I think they hoped it would. Nice idea that I think is worth exploring again in the future. With some tweaks it could be a lot of fun.
