Stuttering/frame pacing issues
Played 40 minute and stopped. Feeling physically sick due to the choppy frame pacing issues on this game

4090 with an AMD 7800x3D

Doesn’t matter if the game is locked to 120, 60, etc - everything feels choppy and like it’s running in 1/2 sync

Is this the engine??? I searched on these forums and saw similar issues dating back since release

Bought because I want to support develops adding offline modes so I can
“Vote with my wallet” about cutting out the live service cancer in the industry, but might just refund … can’t stand unoptimized games, no matter the budget

It is the engine.

This has not been fixed for years and will not be fixed. Do you really think that after years of release this is going to happen and "voting with your wallet" means anything after all this time?
This is not a new game...:steamfacepalm:

Try deleting "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\NeocoreGames\Warhammer Martyr\Fonts".
It helps quite often with micro stutter, for some reaseon.

What Schalimah said above would be my first suggestion as well. Let me know if that didn't do anything we can still try a couple other troubleshooting steps

Thanks for the response, but that did not resolve the issue.

Sorry to be frank but it seems like this is genuinely an engine issue and there is nothing that users can do to resolve. After having a quick scan through other posts, seems like this has been an issue since launch and persists even now.

To be clear: this isn’t microstutter or FPS dropping due to assets, shadows, etc., this is frame presentation and frame timing.
No frame has an equal timing between their delivery resulting in a jumpy, choppy image despite running at a high frame rate.

It’s a sort of “live with it” kind of issue but in 2024, I’m just not interested in this kind of experience, especially when other ARPGs offer a smoother experience

Thanks again for your response dev and I hope I didn’t come off harsh. Hoping the sequel uses a better engine tho….

you should see the ps5 version. ts absolutely horrid because of that. Couldn't even play it.
But I love the game so i got it on pc next, much better that's for sure. But yeah I still notice it, just not as bad as ps5 version. its 10 times worse there lol

Are you sure it's actual frametime discrepancies? I did some testing last week with MSI Afterburner running and my frametimes were remarkably stable at 170fps. Sub-1ms fluctuations the vast majority of the time, as one would expect.

What I was seeing, however, was stuttering every time I moved my character, or the camera.
This suggests that the problem is actually in how the game engine handles camera movement.

This does nothing to alleviate the camera stuttering I was seeing when playing last week.

if your trying to move the camera with the mouse, try binding it to keyboard hotkeys, much smoother, theres also an option to enable frame blending, whatever tht is, in the video options, also. much smoother

Same issue here, 4090 as well. In addition to stuttering and random FPS drop, the game even becomes unplayable after about 1.5 - 2 hours as it starts freezing frequently, I have to restart the game to continue playing. Love the game, it’s a shame tho with the performance issues.

A couple more things worth trying:
  • uncheck the Steam Option : Steam > Settings > In-Game > Second Option "Use the Big Picture Overlay when using a steam input...
  • put 'physics detail' and 'character detail' as well as 'persistent bodies' down to zero in the graphics settings.
  • this Reddit thread may hold the solution for you also
  • try playing in Borderless Mode
  • as mundane as it sounds, check to see if the game uses your designated graphics card at all
  • limit the number of CPU cores responsible for running the game as shown in this article[www.itechtics.com]

Setting the processor affinity did solve it for me. Is there a command line argument for Warhammer.exe and the prophecy to start offline?
That would allow us to create a shortcut instead of every time setting affinity at start.

Sometimes the game has a memory leak and everything becomes a slide show, until ultimately hanging and crashing. But it's rare. Happened to me maybe once every 20-30 hours of gameplay.

I cant find that. Its definitely not the second option. Do you mean "controller"?

I tried physics down, affinity, big picture when using controller off, borderless and bodies. The game microstutter/lags/jerks continuously which makes it seem like low FPS but my FPS is well above 60 (refresh of my monitor).

Quite annoying. The price tag of 10 bucks removes a lot of the pain, but games should not run like this when your PC easily handles it.

Enjoying the gameplay though.

I have seen this in a few games. I cant remember but there was some game recently i noticed this in as well. Standing still FPS goes up and the game become rock solid. Move through mouse or keyboard and the FPS drops a lot.

Something related to the input actions of mouse/keyb/controller or the moving/camera.
