Keep meaning to pick a copy of that up.
Did anyone ever play Battlswarm back in the day? always thought an FPS+ top down strategy hybrid 40k would be cool. It was a good concept, but had afew issues, though i think it lacked lore an IP and marketing.
A squad/small number of human players (3rd person+fps) would have to hold out defending a base ( abit like last stand^^) vs 2 top down strategy bug assaults in pvp, pve maps were also available.
The humans had a variety of weapons armour and upgrades to earn and choose from. The swarm had an upgradable hive leader with minions to unlock + abilities to use for each as well upgrade. I enjoyed it to be honest a F2P model and lack of backing was its downfall IMO, plus it had little access to a large population. Would have worked well on steam (dont think it was available anyhow).
There are some vids around still of gameplay. It could work very well with 40k franchise i think. Tau, Human, and Eldar fps/3rd person banding together vs a torrent of ork/tyranid/demon swarms. Go take a look^^, i dont think anyone is combining both gameplay styles atm (havnt come across any, enlighten me if you have plz).. it would be unique.

It pretty much fits your description. It's not amazing but might scratch that itch.
I have.
It's ♥♥♥♥.
Proper twin stick shooter are Crimsonland, Smash TV, Hotline Miami, Neo Chrome, Jydge, Shockforce.
Dont give them any ideas. The state of Martyr 0.7 = unplayable for me is not exactly encouraging.
Martyr is our main project for the next few years, so, no.
