The problem is...why are we landing with mere Imperial Guardsmen in the first place?
Where are our Inquisitorial Stormtroops/Kasrkins??????
Aint that the truth.
Ordo Tempestus Stormtroopers can hold their own and are equipped beyond paper armor and a laser pointer.
There are guard units who can fight as more than cannon fodder and that should be the upgrade tier imo. Inquisitorial stormtroopers.
But Inquisitors can take control and or Command of any Imperial force he wants to include Astartes, to refuse an Inquisitor would be a bad thing to do. There are cases where entire Imperial Guard regiments have been labled Heretic by a pissed off Inquisitor, for right or wrong the Inquisitor makes the rules.
Those would seem to be the sort of things one would find in a Retinue, rather than as "allies who are handy for a trivial expenditure of influence"
In most cases wouldn't find Grey Knights, Deathwatch, or Sisters of Battle in an Inquisitors Retinue. Albeit Jaq Draco did have Lexandro D'Arquebus of the Imperial Fist for a short time, but retinues consisted mainly of Pilots, Navigators, Bodyguards, Interrorgators, Bounty Hunters, Daemonhosts, Assassins, other jounior Inquisitors. People who could assist in covert missions. A Space Marine or a Sister of Battle could hardly be considered covert.
As for the trivial expenditure of influence, The 3 major Ordos of the Inquisition Ordo Malleus, Xenos, and Hereticus; "Each of the three Ordos has an "Order Militant", a fighting force trained to fighting the chosen enemy of their Order" Grey Knights for the Ordo Malleus, Deathwatch for the Ordo Xenos, and Adepta Sororitas for Ordo Hereticus.
Tisk.
Unless the lore has changed, Inquisitors can requisition whoever they deem necessary for their tasks.
