Relic Storm Shield vs Artificier Suppression Shield?

I can't seem to get a relic suppression shield to drop for my crusader deflect build, so I've been using a purple suppression shield instead. Now I do have a relic storm shield, which I figure would be a lot better, when fused, than my current suppression shield.

A search indicates that the suppression shield has a better AOE effect than the storm shield, but surely an upgraded relic storm shield should be better than a purple suppression shield......or maytbe not? Don't want to break the build.

I don't want to waste relics experimenting with this, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks for any help.

Storm Shield doesn't work in CC, it does damage only when you're able to charge into enemies. Tell me your game handle, and I'll send you one.

relics at maxed PR are always better. there are no items above.

The Storm Shield actually has amazing AoE because there is a little quirk with it that doesn't gets mentioned anywhere in game:

It will only stop when hitting Champion or bigger mobs. You can charge straight through a line of Guardsmen and similar lesser foes for AoE clear.

I've tried a relic storm shield out on a couple of missions. I like the charge for moving quickly to a threat, but I don't like the down time on it. Seems like it's never ready when I need it. Also, I like the suppression shield's discharge better for CC than the storm shield's charge. Maybe, I just need to use the storm more to get a true feel for it. These were both green missions so there really was no no challenge either way.

If you want to plai with the shield charge, give a look at the movement skillthree. You can get a lot of CDR.
The CDR on my charge is 7,5s instead of 10. And when i deflect, the recovery is much faster. When i'm in a huge battle, the charge is up like every 4-5s.
