Looking for build advice for levelling as Crusader
Hi guys,

I am new to the game and having hard time levelling as crusader. Till lvl 8 it was ok, but since 9 I keep dying and I have low DPS. Can somebody point me to some levelling build? I tried to find one but could not find any. I was trying to go this way https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1435559299https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1435559299

and put everything into AOE.

Thanks in advance

I am no expert, but I will tell you what has worked so far for me...

Early on Demo armor and grenades good at killing big blobs, autogun to keep them away and chainsword when they get close...Because Crusader is SLOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

also I put all my skill points into ranged combat at first like 6 points...Then all Crit for like 5 more...

soon you will be unlocking better weapons like Boltguns and Heavy bolters and Melta's that have crazy DPS...

Like I said, has worked for me so far, but there are others on here that I am sure have better builds...and hopefully they will respond to help you out...

So i guess you must be talking about RANGED crusader...
You didn't pick the easiest class to begin with, but yet there are people in worse trouble than you (like ranged assassin or melee psyker).

You should be fine until level 20 and use that time to try all possible weapon combos. That grav gun build you posted is not so good since AoE bug was fixed a few weeks ago.
For endgame ranged crusader i would advise going Melta weapons (either dual pistols or heavy). You still have time to enjoy the slow start and learn the tricks with every weapon, so do it.
I would just add that 4 points in health tree, upper left corner until you get the inoculator reset under 25% health has saved my life innumerable times on all my characters. You can rush carelessly and still survive.

See you soon when you hit the "protect tech priest" mission. :steammocking:

For me it was all into AoE tree first, and then Physical damage. Shotgun till lvl 20, then Grav Gun. Armor that gives turrets, for extra dps and/or distraction, and Void Shield as belt item.

Eviscerator or Thunder Hammer for secondary when I was able to use them, some other melee before that. It wasn't really required though. I generally used second slot to try stuff out ;]

Fights were not exactly fast, but all were quite easy. When in doubt, put more turrets ;]

I'm on like lvl 34 now, so i can't comment on "full build", but campaign on green difficulty was a breeze.

I was leveling sader after AoE nerf (or should i say fix), so i can only guess how op that was earlier.

Yes I meant ranged crusader.

And after level 20? I understand that endgame starts around lvl 50, just asking to save time. You know I am spoiled from Blizz games like WoW, HS or Diblo, where is theorycrafting and all sorts of rescoures avaible... :)

In meanwhile i will try

My advice would be to level non weapon specific things in the skill tree, so you can use the whole array of weapons to keep things more interesting and change things up when you get bored of a weapon, because that will happen.

What I mean is don't level trees that are damage type specific like physical only or heat only. Instead do crit, single target etc. You can still do ranged and melee trees since they cast a wide enough net.

The point is, you're going to get bored of a weapon sooner or later, so keep your options open and switch without being penalized for using a weapon you don't have the skill set for. You'll also find that the different weapon types are all good for certain things so you can take whichever along with you that's right for the job.

Get crisis management perk as early as you can. Get some points into the hitpoint tree. Those hp reg skills on 50% life are gold. Defense first, you have to survive things. Use skill trees for dps that are general to support a hybrid style. 1 2hand weapon for melee and fast monster pack clear speed and 1 ranged weapon with armor pierce for ranged. Take for example the physical skill tree or the critical tree for damage. Dont specialize into close combat or ranged at the beginning. Then you can kite with a bolter and use your 2hand sword to kill easy things fast.

Deflect crusader with shield is good too. Perks 100% deflect for melee, fencing style deflect value = damage buff and unfettered manovering or crisis management. If you are lucky and you can find a relic shield with +100 suppression on deflect you are golden. You still get hurt, deflect does not ignore all damage, it does only lessen the amount of damage. Deflect is not evasion like the assassin. Dont forget that. You are not immortal^^. Take defense stance in the defense tree to make deflects ignore more damage.

As perks unfettered manovering and crisis management later at lvl 41 augmented body. You have +20% movement, crisis management gives you staying power to kill a big pack in one go and augmented body in lvl 41 makes you ignore the suppression system.

Have fun.

Really? I find ranged assasin the best and fastest and esyest leveling off all.
My melee assasin are leveled as ranged since melee assasins sucks.

Crusader sucks no matter what you do with it, so does Psyker after nerf. There is no tips if you want a crusader you just need to move on and after a million deaths and endless sneaking around very slowly you might actual get to 70. I have tryed but simply give up halfway with the crusader. I have leaved that class for good, and dervs seems to give a s... about actual make that class work. they turn the game ballance from bad to worse just look at Psyker.

The only decent class is actual ranged assasin.

Defence tree helps alot to start with to help reduce your overall damage and to boost damage reduction.

I find doing this first helped as it's useful for all builds (especially crusader) and then you can try out different weapons and start specing towards the one you like. Normally around level 20 as that's when you have unlocked all the weapons.
