dam Martyr is so hard to get in
Hello, I bought the game a long time ago every time I want to start I get books in my face

I'm not very familiar with the Warhammer universe but there I have the impression that this game is only for connoisseurs and hardcore fans

I can't appreciate the story because in every sentence there are names that I don't know at all so I spend more time on the internet to understand what it's about

not to mention the gameplay

I went on a crusader sword shield but except that the shield is useless either I take damage or I protect myself and can no longer attack

so I often find myself running away and going in circles while my life regenerates (first time I see a crusader doing kitting)

and the very unpleasant feeling that the ranged weapon is much superior to the melee

end in summary the game is really complicated to learn

I run diablo I kill I loot I equip myself I understand the lore very quickly as well as the skill tree i get fun

I run grim dawn I kill I loot I equip myself I understand the lore very quickly as well as the skill tree i get fun

I run Torchlight 2 I kill I loot I equip myself I understand the lore very quickly as well as the skill tree i get fun

but warhammer martyr it's just the opposite and yet I would really like to enjoy it when I see the follow by the devs of the game

but dam is so hard.

Getting into the warhammer lore can be quick and easy or long and hard. There's heaps of terminology that's used through the story line that really only someone who's familiar with the lore would get. Games like these are often used as a bridging for people who like these sorts of games but are new to warhammer.

Having just finished the crusader as melee (sword and shield) is about finding the right balancing of stats so that your effectively killing groups of enemies (not commanders/villains/bosses) so that your not losing too much suppression. How you balancing that is the difference between having fun or stressing cause your always fleeing the fight.

So when I bought this game, I knew absolutely nothing about the Warhammer universe; total noob; some of the terms went over my head but overall, the game does explain the basics to you as you go along. However Warhammer is known for being very lore heavy, now I found the lore interesting so I went to Youtube, and there are SO MANY videos of lore to help you if you want to learn more.

I would suggest going to youtube and watching the following short videos (links provided) they will help you better enjoy the game

The God Emporer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJzBYraabec)

I have played a few Warhammer games, but never for very long.
I have very little understanding of the lore.
This game could be written in Swahili and i would probably understand it better (and I don't speak Swahili).
But I am slowly starting to familiarise myself with a lot of the technology terms which helps a bit.
The campaign story is slowly becoming interesting.

I also tried playing sword and board and hated it.

Went to a sniper and haven't looked back. The difficulty for range characters is almost perfect. Battles are challenging at times but never feel cheesy. It's always my fault if I fail a mission.
I put D2 aside to play this. It is that good.
But you simply may not like playing ranged characters, which is fair enough.

Man your links are flagged as malicious by steam, which is odd for a youtube link.

as for the lore i would recommend you check out "Luetin09" on youtube. 40k is an absolute behemoth of a franchise, lorewise but its a superawesome SciFi-Universe. I highly recommend, if you can appreciate fictional universes at all, check out WH40k. Its as good as they get (well; excluding the new Primaris-story-line; thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but its a drop of dirt in an ocean of fascinating lore...)

as for getting into the game: Unfortunately i couldnt quite grab what exactly your problem is. There are 2 shields for crusaders and both are fairly good at dealing dmg, actually. Well. At least each one has got a good dmg-ability, let me put it like that.

you can hit me up ingame, if you want. We can do some coop action and then i am sure i can help you get going.

I play melee weapon (usually power axe) and shield crusaders a lot and mostly don't bother using the block skill. The shield passively adds to your deflect value just by being there. Plus the other active skill on a storm shield is pretty useful for a melee character.

Leutin09, Aborder Prince and 40K Theories are my personal youtubers for WH40K lore. Not that I really need to. Been into it for too many years.

As far as melee crusader goes I found the suppression shield and power hammer to be a good mix. Lots of AoE and knockback/stun potential.
if we talking Crusader-builds: There is actually a lot you can do. My first char was (and still is) a "whirlwindcrusader" with a greatsword and hammer/stormshield as second set for dealing with dangerous enemies. Now permastun was nerfed and i havent played this char since so i am not supersure if the powerhammer is still as OP as it used to be but i guess its still very good (you could permastun bosses and elites with that thing once you got their suppression down; was WAYYYY to powerful). That specific build is very tanky even when using greatsword and fun to play (singing "whirl whirl whirl all day, whirl whirl whirl all night, thats the way the heretics come, the heretics go, just as it serves em right")

My favourite Crusader-build so far, though is actually a Demolition-build. You run demolition armour with heavy bolter and grenade launcher; passives: runic armour, grinder and radical passive (thats one reason i like it; Cuz its a radical Crusader build). Then you use the psalm code that tripples your shots and the one that increases your base damage by 30% but sets your critchance to 0. You pick the passive in supporttree that heals you for 0,5% max HP per focus point spent etc. You get the idea, right? You buff yourself up with the armourskill (which has devastating damage in and off itself and heals you up for 20% max hp on use on a 5 second cd) and then you mow everything down with your heavy bolter and grenade launcher. That build has the destructive power of a smaller titan. Say Ravager-class while still being supertanky for a ranged build.

Then i build i wanna do. In fact the next build i am going for is a Eviscerator-Build with focus on executions. Etc. etc. There are really many ways to build an awesome crusader-build.

If you like people who do not care about offending others than I would suggest you go look up Arch on youtube. He's got a mountain of lore.

Otherwise I would highly recommend you pick up a few of the books. I'd start with the Horus Heresy if you're a fresh start. Audible has a ton of the Warhammer books with excellent narration. Or just say ♥♥♥♥ it and keep on playing and you'll probably get the hang of it eventually. It's absolutely wroth the ride.

Heavy Bolter crusader is the only way to play.

Yeah. Definitly check out Arch. Unless you have a distaste for reason and logic. ^^

I would like to say thank you all of you

I'll go see a channel if the English doesn't speak too fast

otherwise, for my character it was enough just that I force myself it starts to send good damage in addition to being very tanky
