Game Animations - Jerky/Rigid/Low FPS?
Hello,

I just purchased the game and am very excited to be playing. The only unfortunate thing I am noticing, is that I am getting max FPS for my rig (141fps on a 144hz display) consistently, but the animations appear to be lower FPS?

It seems like the animations are 30/60 FPS for console, which was not ported to PC? Is this normal or are there settings I can adjust to smooth out animations? Adjusting to different graphics presets does not help. Thanks.

Well, at this phase I doubt they'll ever get fixed - that's okay, as long as the game is good. It seems pretty engaging, I think I'll stick with it.

smooth 60fps > crappy 144/165hz Setups

solution: don´t think about 75fps+ unless you have vast experience. Not even the most modern/expensive Gfx-cards run 100fps+ in demanding games without several issues.
Stable Framerate is much more important than max-Frames :D:

The Animation Speed is lowered at some Point thats true, it was a Compromise to asure stable and good FPS and was introduced with one of the Patches long Time ago. It even happens at stable 60 FPS sometimes to do exactly that keeping the FPS at 60. The more you zoom in the more you notice it, but after some Time you get used to it. For me personally its not a big Deal, but i admit it can look strange at the first few Times you witness it.

...? Salty much? Still on a 60hz panel? I have no issues at 144hz on any other games, obviously they aren't rendering the animations above 30/60fps in this game. I like it and don't mind but I wanted to know if I was doing something wrong.

Ahm just saying cause i see a few Posts regarding this Topic, i play on Win7x64Home (Stock Install) a I74770K at 3,5 GHZ 16 Gigs of DDR3 Ram and a GTX 1070TiOC and i play Games like Division2 BF5 Metro Exodus and yeah also Inquisitor on Ultra but Shadows on High with 60 FPS smooth (except for BF5 that runs on full Ultra at 60FPS). Lol i even tested Red Dead Online recently and it was running like hot Butter on 60 But with Shadows on Med. i just tell you Guys this to make clear that all this "You need latest Hardware is Nonsesne" most Times when a Game is not Running well its the Games Fault, not the Developers Fault. Its simply difficult sometimes to optimize Games for every possible Hardware Config, its mostlly a Game of Luck if it will run well for you no kidding xD

This.. shows exactly that you have no experience with many AAA-games. It´s very common to run into issues with 90fps+ Setups

And once we talk about Eyecandy.. no card on the market can even perform 120fps stable in TombRaider/Assassin´sCreed/Wildlands/Breakpoint/etc..etc @ higher Resolution.. often not even 1080p :D:
120/144/165hz is a bubble that works only on very few games in reality
The latest rtx3080 can barely do 4K @60fps in demanding titles.. and you talk about 100+fps.. just lol

That aside, most games are optimized for 60fps and Consoles. For Developers it makes little sense to go above 60fps with Animation.. ofc it´s a business decision, too.
And Darktide said it.. reduce Settings and see what is still acceptable for you. But smooth 100fps+ might not be in reach..

When it comes to ACO im lucky and still get 60FPS with my old Rig at High Settings, but when it comes to Wildlands i have Drops to the 45´s sometimes at big Bases/Towns. it has a lot to do with Optimization and Luck i guess. But yeah Inquisitor runs very well for me with everything on Ultra but Physics on low, i have also stable 60 with them on Ultra 90% of the Time but there are specific Tile Sets wich have big Problems with Ultra Physic Settings. in ARPGS i prefer Stability over Quality thats why i keep them on low, that may helps OP btw.

I'm running pretty much every "modern AAA" on 3440x1440 @ 100 Hz aka 100 fps where available, and I never had any issues.

Quite the opposite, matter of fact, it's old(er) games or more accurately their physics engines which are directly tied to the fps and thus cannot handle stuff higher than 60 fps.

I doubt that.. Benchmarks indicate your 1070ti @1080p Ultra:
AC:Valhalla -43fps
ReadDeadRedemption2 -43fps
Cyberpunk -43fps
Metro Exodus -53fps
AC:Odyssey -50fps

That means you reduce some things to get 60fps :D:

Ofc you don´t name your Gfx-card.. that means it´s just hot air. Let´s keep it real guys or there is no value for any other player with similar problems..
Btw, the games above like AC:Valhalla + Cyberpunk are very recent.. not even rtx3080 runs those completely stable @100fps in 1080p

Yeah Shadows as i said to high, i think it does not change much but its a 1070Ti Gaming from MSi wich is OCéd already when you get it but not that much.

No worries bro. I too play Division 2 (Maxed I get 80-110 FPS), BFV (All Ultra, 110-140 FPS). I don't have a beast rig - I'm only running an RTX 2060, and I bumped up from a GTX 970, I tend to be conservative with my GPU's. With your setup it honestly sounds like your monitor would be a bottleneck, your rig is capable of running much higher frames and features like G-Sync make things smooth/input lag so minimal that once you've used it you can't go back. All good peace bro.

Thank you, this answers my question. Unfortunate as I'm able to run the game at 141 FPS, but I'm getting used to it (I was playing Last Epoch and the animations are ultra smooth in that game, hence my noticing it). There seems to still be a little jank to the game but it won't stop me from enjoying it :)

It appears that's the case with this title. I'm running 1080p with a stable 141 FPS, and the animations are pretty jank. I believe the animations (char/enemy movement, etc.) are locked to 60 FPS, as well as the physics (tossing a grenade and the explosion). Pity it's a pretty game but the animations leave a lot to be desired.

I play with V-Sync on all the Time thats why i have 60 FPS, many Years i played witout V-Sync and higher Frames ofc. But somehow i got used to the Mouse Movement Feeling V-Sync gives and Today i like it a lot, ik sounds crazy but its true xD
