- At the 1st place: unreasonable playerbase.
- Next, developers lack of passion and honesty combined with open minds to listen to wh40k community.
Last years bigger wh40k titles failed misarably couse of greedy developers who really don`t give a ♥♥♥♥ about this universe.
They think that wh40k fans are bands of idiotic fanboys couse they pay for overpiced minis and will be eager to pre-order anything with wh40k mark on it.
It is easy to delude them with promisses (unrealistic or those that are never suppose to be even tired to acomplish), get their cash, then for a year or two pretend that development continues (meaningless patches) and quit when fanboys will move to another over-hyped game.
Devs of EC, DOW3, SH/DW and IM from the very start prefered to stay in their safe bubble their build for themselves with support of fanboys.
DoW3 issues reported form the very start: cartoonish visuals, bad campaign, not enough factions, no cover, no base building. Devs:"Nah, we know better", fanboys"Yeah this is great game!" - development officialy stopped
EC: Bad maps, no mission modes, idiotic melee, bad hitboxes, fatal matchmaking, fatal vehicle physics. Devs:"Don`t worry, we have 10years plan", fanboys "Good job BHVR!". - Financial ressources moved to another game, head developer took job in another studio withoput eben saying "goodbye".
SH/DW: Bad AI, shallow gameplay, no replayability. Developers didn`t even said a word, just re released game as EE to not be affected by bad reviews.
IM... well we know the story.
My conclussion:
It is not some wh40k aspect the games are missing.
Yeah... IM lore is quite absurd if one Inquisitor fights hundreds of guardsmen.
But damn... the whole wh40k dark feeling, visuals and atmosphere is really really good. Just like with SH/DW.
It is stupid wh40k fanbase who ceaslessly feeds incompetent people. You want ot have a good wh40k game? Start with community who will not be supporting any ♥♥♥♥ with their wallets.
Then solid developers willing to satusfy thier customers will appear and we will have a good games.
I bought every warhammer 40k game in the recent past. Most games were better then the average shovelware crap that is released on steam every day. Most of them got me plenty of playtime. Some of them were disappointing, but i still played them for a long time.
So to stop buying all warhammer 40k games is no solution if you want new games.
Have fun.
Sorry but I have no idea why you came to this conslussion.
I never said not to buy wh40k games.
What i meant:
-Do not pre-order unless developers are on your most trusted list,
-Don`t be lanient with your reviews, stop mumbling "it is just x months after release",
-Point out every issue game have or lies developers are trying to tell instead being idiot who thinks devs are your friends couse they made the game with your belowed ip.
I've always figured it was because 40k fans are some of the hardest to please. If one lil thing is off they will ♥♥♥♥♥ about it. Like how people complain how a bolter sounds. Or if they see it drop shell casings. Or something not lining up lorewise or supported by a codex. And usually it's the same group of names in every 40k game forum on steam. Non stop. But sometimes I understand why they gripe. Sometimes I think devs truly do want to make a good game but they oversell themselves on what they can and can not do and then get stuck in a ♥♥♥♥ situation. And sometimes the ticked off people are just flat out in the right, looking at you EC / DOW3.
It takes a lot to irk me in a game so I don't fully hop on the gripe train all the time myself because I'm honeslty happy when the 40k universe is brought to life via a game. I've never played table top because I'm not going to shell out that much cash for some plastic minis and also tabletop does not appeal to me at all. But I will buy a video game when it comes out as long as it's not turn based. Because I find turn based games boring as hell.
And when it comes to this game, I know it's far from perfect and quite a bit could be done to make it better. But I just don't share the same resentment as other players.
On the countrar if you prefer more tactic and deep games the 40k selection is good indeed.
Dawn of War 1 and 2 are very valid games and still have a hard core of players, keep in mind that DW 1 was released over 10 years ago.
We have Sanctus which is a little gem,and if you are a tabletop gamer like myself you will appreciate it even more,Gladius that came recentely is a very good product as well, and the devs are going to plan to release a new faction.
Mechanicus that came out a few days ago reproduct very well the sense of the Kill Team tabletop aspect, and Space Hulk Tactic is valid as well.
And Armada is on the way,and it comes with good space battles.
Of course there is the downside as well,Down of War 3 was a memorable fiasco and then you have some unifnished games full of empty promises like Eternal Crusade, even the old Space Marine is better than this one.
To summarize I won't say that the 40k PC gaming situation is that bad, there are some intriguing installents.
Just try to find the one that you prefer.
Warhammer 40k is too political incorrect. You will not see AAA production quality in this franchise, i am afraid. The IP is too difficult and anti pc to get exploited by big budgets. So if you want to enjoy warhammer games perhaps adjust your own expectations a little.
Have fun.
Seriously??? Thank you kindly for this explanation - now I am aware that WH40k players are an uber-race.
This totally changes my previous opinion was that they are a population with the highest percentage of whining scum, grown people who paint figurines and think themselves better than others because they play a "chess-for-babies, with dices" (TM).
DISCLAIMER: I actually like WH40k universe, but not to the point that it's so special and for supreme race only. BTW, like >50% of it is conveniently 'borrowed' from other sources... Which should be considered while acting master-race...

It was not meant to be. We shall mourn.
Citing some literary examples would help the context of your assertion.
Very good point here,I should have say that DoW 3 and Eternal Crusade are unfinished products rather rhan just bad,DoW 3 gives you a detailed ammount of chapters even though it lacks of many factions, and EC with a little more of effords could be a great online game but the tons of micro transactions with the very poor updates are not worth the candle,at least at the moment.
