Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr

How many factions there are in Martyr and Prophecy combined?
From my knowledge there are:-
Chaos Space Marines (not the ones from dawn of war but more like plague-ish right?)
Space Marines (most seem to be dead)
Imperial Guard (the ones that help you out every now and then)
Dark Eldar (even though they look nothing like in dawn of war)
Eldar (as far as I know only in Prophecy)
Tyranids (Only in Prophecy)

So 6 factions unless I missing something as Inquisitors belong to Imperial Guard right? or do they have their own faction made of only Inquisitors? And the Tech-Adept belong to Space Marines of I am not wrong (yet again thinking of dawn of war Servitor)
So what's missing is:-
Necrons
Tau
Sisters of Battle
Orks

So it would be 10 factions on par with dawn of war series, unless it has more that I've missed or has plans to include the mentioned factions in the far future?

Technically Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Mechanicum, Inquisition and Sisters of Battle all are just different flavours of the Imperium of Man.

Just like all the traitor Space Marines, dark Mechanicum, Deamons and traitor guard are just flavours of Chaos.
There are actually 5 different types of traitor Space Marines represented in IM:
- Black Legion (Chaos undivided)
- Alpha Legion (Chaos undivided)
- Word Bearers (Chaos undivided)
- Plague Marines (Nurgle affiliated)
- Voidrippers (Khorne affiliated)

Inquisitor Martyr gets the visuals and flair pretty spot on and is probably a more accurate reference then DOW in that regard.

From the major factions only Orcs, Necrons and Tau are missing.

So to answer your Question there are 5 major factions represented in IM:
- The Imperium of Man
- Chaos
- Asuryani (craftworld Eldar)
- Drukhari (Dark Eldar)
- Tyranids

technically there is one Harlequin as well

so how many races are there truly? in Warhammer 40k in general.
As to my knowledge there are only:-
Humans (imperial guard, space marines enhanced humanoids, sisters of battle and tech adapt as they were former humans right?)
Orks
Tyranids
Eldar (as dark eldar and eldar as same race)
Tau
Necrons
Daemons (chaos space marines and other factions as all of them are still daemons)

Am I missing some as it's kinda weird how sometimes factions and races end up meaning the same thing, but I am talking about race race, not sub race or sub factions.
As dawn of war went by races/factions which seem also to be similar thing happening in Inquisitor martyr/prophecy.

That is hard to answer because there are so many minor races.
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Category:Minor_Alien_Species_and_Factions

Some of the major factions consist of multiple races.
The Tau empire for example is mostly comprised of actual Tau, but they also employ considerable elements of Kroot, Vespid and Human elements.
The Orks are a fungus that presents in four major forms: Orks, Gretchin, Snotlings and Squigs.
And then there are the Aeldari, A single race split across five major factions now.
The Necrons can hardly be called a race anymore.
Race being a biological term and the Necrons being souls trapped in constructed metal bodies.
What actually are the Tyranids?
Or should I say what is the Tyranids, as you could argue that they are actually just one universe spanning organism.

i dont really mind tau being absent. game could use more variety within sub factions. wich is unlikely since the game is already "old" and already has above average representation of different chaos sub factions (plague, voidrippers, word bearers, alpha and black legion) and the devs love the fluff enough to not throw khornate sorcerers at us.
i´d still like to see iron warriors :)

but there still is possibility of having more races, factions and sub races/factions in the future no? Like how they added tyranids and eldar in prophecy expansion.

Depends how dyou define the therm "faction"
Even Imperium of man can be seen as a faction, but also the inquisition on it's own can be seen as a faction.

But you can go even deeper and separate the inquisitorial ordos as factions.
But to keep it simple, you have the folowing enemy factions:
- Tyranids
- Drukhari
- Aeldari
- Rebels
- World Bearers
- Nurgle
- Khorne
- Alpha LEgion
- Black legion
- Plague Vanguards.

would be awesome to see inquisitor face off an army of orks behind cover and the inquisitor be like nope and just tosses a grenade at them XD
