Lore Behind the Carthean Sword?
Starting an assassin after finishing the story with Psyker and Tech Adept, was the Carthean Sword weapon type invented wholesale for this game? Not that I'm complaining about having a not-katana that lets me kill enemies with anime sword beams, but I'd like to know more about it, and unlike all the other weapons in the game it doesn't seem to be based on any already-existing weapons in lore.

looks like they invented it out of thin air there isn't even a Carthean to speak about ^^.

Perhaps it originates from Dan Abnett's 'Eisenhorn' series, with some liberal interpretation. ;-)

This seems to be it =)
If you look in the books (or the Lexicanum) you see that the Carthean Sword seems to be based upon a force sword from Carthae used by the Esq Sweydyr tribe. The underying idea seems to stem from the "Barbarisater" - the sword used by Arianhrod Esw Sweydyr and later Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn.

What he said. Their isn't much of anything about the planet other than the swordswomen that are mentioned in some of the eisenhorn and ravanor books, but we do know people from carthea are very tall in general, Arianhrod being described as almost as tall as an astartes.

More importantly, their swordswomen are incredibly skilled and use sentient force swords that are passed down through the tribe. They're priceless relics that are usually returned to the tribe of it's owner dies as a matter of honor.

I'm not sure if the ones in game are supposed to be said priceless force swords or just a good sword from carthea.
