If you prefere to stay true to your sniper build, i would try the needler-sniper. It's aoe-attack has a bigger aoe radius than most other sniper-aoe-skills and most of its attacks deal poison-dot.
In addition i can only suggest to get some relic-items with enchants that let enemys explode on-stun/on-kill/-on-shock. There are some psalm-code-doctrines that have similar effects. These are devastating for hordes. Ofc your char needs to be lvl-50+ to get sockets on gear and you probabaly need to unlock some crafting-techs and get the needed psalm-codes.
But this game offers you a lot of ways to cope with different situations. It helps to read some guides (even to only get some inspirations) and the compendium is pretty useful to look-up pslam-code-doctrines. https://neocoregames.com/en/community/warhammer-40k-inquisitor-martyr-compendium
I hope this helps a little bit.
I'll read the guides. The needler gun is too automatic for me and it's AoE has high cool-down.
Tried the arc blades. Not for me. Null rods is better. I'll keep experimenting.
My first character "failed"(was a sniper-assassin too).
The second was ok(psyker that managed up to +6 missions).
The third is awesome(crusader that can do every mission up to +10).
Currently working on my 4th(this assassin will be better^^).
Never tryed null-rods... maybe i should¿
With the previous build I lost ~5 intel missions due to enemy psykers. The problem is you need to get close to them. It works OK so far but I haven't tested yet on horde + psyker where you need to get close more than once (2-3 times to clear the crowd + assassination of the psyker). Works good with stealth suite.
This is my first time with melee weapons so I might play as a crusader after all (So far had also a ~50 lvl Tech adept).

This armor is nice way to deal with hordes
I'm also using ancient purity seal with stunned enemies explode on kill.
