Well, as far as Ranged go anyway.
Melee is far, far superior to range in this game.
Dual bolt is average fire rate in the general scheme of things but have some melee, some armour break/tougher opponent and AOE/crowd control ability uses thrown in to compensate.
Autorifle/pistols are fast and some allow a retreat/advance and fire abilities as well as the odd high damge shot thrown in, also a faster firing option when smaller melee units swarm you. Combine that with something like melta/plasma 2h as secondary to take out hard/armoured targets.
Lasgun/rifle/pistols work as well, they initially dont seem to be as effective due to the cooldown but putting points into the right skills helps with heat control. You could throw in a heavy weapon for the higherr damage or crowd control effect as a secondary but in most cases they are best used when stationary/expecting to move slowly. If you have dont mind swapping to secondary and back often then the heat cooldown wont get in your way... you could use heat buildup weapons both primary and secondary.
Everything seems to work when combined with an opposite secondary to combat enemy variation tbh, it also depends on playstyle and skill build.
Edit: thats if you want to focus on ranged.. some options at least, melee has been covered by others. A ranged/melee primary and secondary depending on playstyle wanted could work also.
right now i use eviscerator only and alot inculator, since i loose hp really fast with up to level gear. Im going for grav gun at level 20 and hope things speed up a bit. I use the 20% movement passive, or else I fall a sleep. And the 5% stackable damage passive, its the best option I have tryed so far.
Imho the 2h Axe is more versatile and faster than the Hammer, sorry for for the early Grav-Gun suggestion here as well, I'm just leveling up (23 atm) here as well, but when it unlocks, give it a try.
Boltgun.
Effective both against armored targets and unarmored.
Has a good AoE. It does not slow down the speed of movement. And it has an excellent sound effect.
As an option try a boltpistol, suppression shield and assault armor.
sorry my english
Its a nice and helpfull cummunity here ty all for the answers.
That is for melee...
Just for completion: 3x single & 2x AOE (since a kill results in AOE at 1 of the skills)
I prefer Greataxe due to its increased mobility over Thunder Hammer (late option) and Greatsword. Greataxe also have armour breaking and a DOT build into it so it is decent all-round weapon capable dealing with packs of small enemies as well as armored targets such as elites and boss creatures.
Big change in ranged combat effectiveness for me was when I unlocked multi-melta gun. This gun is my secondary weapon until now, even if I do not really use it anymore at my end-game build. Multi-melta can be very effective without any specific investment in skill trees. It is great at quickly burning heavily armored targets and can also deal with swarms of small enemies.
